Ft Lewis Area Mechanic
New to the area and recently developed a problem with my jeep. Ive never worked on cars before plus I have no tools to do anything anyways. I was wondering if there are any good mom and pop type garages in the area that could help figure out what was wrong with it. Don't want to go to a dealership. Ive looked online about what could be wrong with it, but there are many things it could be and i just don't have the knowledge to figure it out
yea its an 07 unlimited sahara. got off the highway the there day and it started sputtering, thought that maybe it was because of low fuel. got to the gas station and filled up but it still did the same thing. on my way back to base it became a lot worse (felt like the entire engine was shaking) and the check engine light came on, flashing and beeping. now it won't start unless i give it a lot of gas while turning the key, but even after that it will stall out. pulled a code of P0300 (random misfire). also, the starter will stay on until i actually turn the key off.
Could be coil pack, computer glitch, or timing chain. Start with the easy one. Disconnect battery for a few minutes and see if the problem goes away. If not, the a bad coil pack may be next.
There are a couple of shops down here in my area.

Take a look at passenger side behind the tire. There is a small clip/harness there (black) that sits at an angle. It may have come out. This sounds a lot like the symptoms my buddies jeep had on the trail. I almost found it by mistake. I got it plugged back in and problem solved. Not sure if it's some type of fuel, ignition sensor etc... His jeep is also a Sahara (auto). I've never checked to see if my standard has one....
P.s., I report to first Lewis on 10 July to the 21st CTC...
