OREGON JK owners trip plan
Would it be weird of me to purchase such a recovery package such as the one on the main project-jk page, eventhough I have a stock JK. I will probably not be able to afford too much else before the Fort Rock trip. And how many will be bringing the red flag for dunes??

I purchased an anchor shackle (d-ring) mount for my rear receiver... only $41! Also got factory tow hooks ($67 at the Stealership, but didn't seem to bad even though I think this should be standard equipment), but haven't installed them yet. They were an option on my X.
Hopefully get them on this weekend. My JK is also very stock... even have those tires that look like I'm running on 4 temporary spares... hah!

That said, the only other recovery equipment I have and plan on bringing is a tow strap, factory jack and a small tool kit. This will be a light run on mostly gravel/dirt roads. Doesn't hurt to be prepared, but a winch, hi-lift, etc... shouldn't be necessary for this one.
I'm not going to purchase a flag, nor do I plan on running the dunes. We may just go check them out (correct me if I'm wrong about that, Rupedog). If some folks decide to do it... more power to 'em! The rest of us will get a kick out of watching.
Hope you get the time off and to see you there! Cheers!
So, here's my part (or the 1st part of my... ahem... part):
I'd like to get any and all PDX-area folks together to make the trip down to meet up with Rupedog in near Eugene/Springfield.
I plan on running down I-5 and hope to find a fairly central location for us to meet up. I don't have a good sense on who will be comng down yet, but let me know if you're in the vicinity and want to join up for trip. I do plan on leaving early... like 6am, so we can get there at a reasonable hour and make the trip to Ft Rock.
Picture a caravan of JK's rolling down the highway, people... That's a very cool image!
People will bow down in awe...
Knowing who's coming and from where will determine the meeting place. Post here if you're going to make it and I'm open to suggestion on where to meet.
Hope to see you there! There will be great geology stuff to check out, if you're interested in that kind of thing...
Pretty much cross off running the dunes this time over. But Yes we should drive over to them so others can see what they would be in for next trip over. The scribe on the recover gear is still there as part of the write ups on the Project JK start page.
Yahoo! Drove around with the Panels off of the Freedom top today. Talked to a couple of other Jeepers in the Safeway parking lot too. One was in a CJ7and the other was in a TJ. Stood there in the parking lot and had a good Q and A about my JK. I just love driving it. I can't wait to get over to Fort Rock. Anyone else getting excited about the trip?

2 on the roll cage and one on the driver's side floor. Should be covered if there are any high desert brush fires! Then spent some time working on the front tow hooks. Picked up some torx sockets for top removal and checked out some CB's. Found one that I need to go back and get this week. Also got a collapsible shovel.
Slowly, but steadily getting ready for the Ft Rock trip... I'm looking forward to it for sure now!!
I am looking forward to it! My Rubicon Express 3.5 STILL has not arrived (due to rear shocks), so yesterday I had my new 35's put on with new wheels and the stock suspension. It does work! Doesn't even look too bad! Also did my CB and mount, rearview camera, shovel, and my new Warn Rock Crawler front bumper!
