Please count me in as,

3) Planning on going, but things could change w/ short notice.

Thanks,

Jim, you're counted at 3 status! Hope to see you there!

Okay, here's what I think I know of attendees so far with status in parentheses:

'07JK Fan - Me, Rugbyduck (4)
EIGHTball, 1BADJK, tradewindjk (3)

Let me know if your... ahem... "status" changes...

Excellent! Look forward to seeing you.

So, anyone who's planning or may be coming... Let's see a pic of your JK! That would help in identification... hah! Actually, I just want a look at your JK's so I can start drooling earlier...

Here's one of my *very* stock (for now) X 2dr. Please be kind about the training wheels...

Sad news, as it looks like I'm a 1. for this trip. HOWEVER, the good news is I should be in VA that week packing up a truck and the JK and bringing my wife, pugs and JK back to OR!!!

Well, that's not so bad, then! Sorry you can't make it this time, but must be good to finally get your life over here!

We wont be over in Bend until around 4:00p.m. Friday...

Hey 07JK Fan.. How long do you think it will take you to get to Bend. Maybe we could just meet up there..

That should work out very well, actually. tradewindjk will also be in Bend that day at about the same time, it sounds. EIGHTball and I will be coming down from the PDX-area earlier in the day and Rugbyduck will be coming in later in the eve on account of coaching duties.

Both EIGHTball and I are pretty excited to get started. Bend sounds like a pretty good meeting spot. I'm agreeable, if everyone else is.

So, this is looking very good at this point. Here's the current status as I understand it thus far:
Status 4: 07JKFan (Me), 1BADJK, EIGHTball, Rugbyduck, tradewindjk
Status 1: KiltedJK and , of course, Rupedog... We'll catch you guys on the next run!
Anyone else?

Need to know a couple things...

1) Do you have a map you can PM me so i have an idea how far we are going?
2) I have my hard top on...you guys going topless? With hard or softtop?
3) Anybody arranged a good list of items to bring? Thought about sharing info? Cell #'s, CB usage, FRMS radio channel? Feel like someone doing a meal each day or just BYOF? Just throwing things out. With my boys coming too I am considering pulling my motorcycle trailer with my Packasport on top...to be left at camp.

Hi Rugbduck! Trip is still getting "organized" and I will be calling 1BADJK to develop a more concrete plan, but I'll try to answer your questions (and likely others) inline below:

1) Do you have a map you can PM me so i have an idea how far we are going?
David (Rupedog) gave me a couple of maps when we met. One was a BLM map that is very much lacking in detail, but there is some good info on points of interest. The other is a NSF map of the Deshutes Nat'l Forest. It is quite detailed, but some of the areas we might go are not covered. I'll have more info after this weekend and will post here, but looks like we're going to camp at China Hat. There's a campground there with outhouses, that should make things a little more comfortable. I don't know about precise distances, as that will depend on where we decide to go. This is very much and informal/unstructured run. Just a chance to see some great geology, wheel our JK's a little and spend some time in the high desert. I don't have something to PM, but recommend the FS map... mostly.

2) I have my hard top on...you guys going topless? With hard or softtop?

I also have my hardtop on (don't have a soft top), but not sure about others. I'm planning on leaving it on for the ride down, but may take the front panels off if it's not too hot and stow them in the back of the JK or perhaps at the campsite. Who knows what it'll be like weatherwise... we do live in Oregon, after all... but I personally like the idea of having A/C and shade if the need arises.

3) Anybody arranged a good list of items to bring? Thought about sharing info? Cell #'s, CB usage, FRMS radio channel? Feel like someone doing a meal each day or just BYOF? Just throwing things out. With my boys coming too I am considering pulling my motorcycle trailer with my Packasport on top...to be left at camp.[/quote]

I was planning on BYOF, but am open to suggestion. As for other items, I suggest:
  1. Axe, shovel and saw.
  2. Fire extinguisher(s)
  3. CB Radio
  4. Water
  5. Water (I plan on bringing 10 gallons, but I try to be cautious when heading into the high desert).
  6. 1st aid kit
  7. High lift jack (I have one, but no place to mount it now - hopefully (won't need it)
  8. GPS - Good to have, but not necessary for everyone. 1BADJK has one and really good mapping software.
  9. Extra food. MRE's are good emergency supplies.
  10. A good, compact tool kit for unexpected, minor repairs.
That may sound like preparing for the Apocalypse, but they're good basics for any backcountry run. Feel free to add in anyone, if you like.

That said, this is intended to be a light run to get our feet.... ahem... JK's wet. Most of the roads we'll be travelling will be gravel/dirt, as far as I know for now. But, there may be some more modified folks, like you, that want to test their rigs a little more.

I'll gather up cell #'s and other contact info and send to everyone coming, so that we can keep in touch. Also need to decide on a CB channel when we get there.

Anyone who hasn't already done so, send me your e-mail addy's and other good ways to contact you via PM when you get a chance. Let me know if questions.
