Went last year and had a blast! Wish I could go this time but the wife is about to burst w/ our first child. Sooooo.. I don't think going jeepin' for the wknd would go over too well.

So Gary, do you think we'll have enough time to run this trail then get back over to funny and moon rocks? I only ask because I didn't realize these trails were on the south side of 410. I was looking at a map last night and it seems like quite a ways away. Is there access to the rocks via NF1701? Isn't the washout still preventing us from making it or is there another way? I'm not second guessing you, just curious.

yeah, we can get up 1701 (at least this was open last year). 1708 has been closed for years. I think to make sure we have time we can plan on just doing the lower section of 4W697 which is the more difficult (=fun) section anyway.

did some measuring: lower section of 4W697 trailhead is just over 12 miles from 410 on fireroad, and the trailhead to Moon Rocks via 1701 is just under 12 miles on fireroad. We have about 2 miles of 4W697 , then under 9 miles back to 410 on fireroad.

so I think:
Camp to 4W697 trail head is less than an hour
Lower 4W697 is 1.5-2 hours
End of 4W697 to back way to Moon Rocks is less than an hour
putting us at Moon Rocks by 1pm if we get everybody moving on time.

***Final update***
OK, there have been a few folks signed up here and with me separately. We'll meet at 9am at the entrance of the Long Meadow campground. please be on time!

Default Whoa! We were planning on going here this weekend.

We were planning on hitting the Naches Trail this weekend and didnt know about this event. We are going to the Naches trail 1175/684
Is this where you guys are going? We would be interested in meeting others.
We havent done this trail before so we dont know the area. All others that were supposed to join us bailed. We are going anyway.
Let me know or see you there.

If you were to run the entire naches trail you'd end up in little naches which is where we are camping. This post is in reference to a trail that is probably 30-40 minutes from the end of the naches trail.

There is a group running the naches trail from little naches to government meadows and back Saturday morning. If you were at government meadows around 11 or 12 you'd probably run into them and could follow them around. There will probably be 20 to 30 jeeps in that group.

Man, this all sounds like a lot of fun. Anybody doing any trail runs on Sunday? I could probably make it out, but not until Sat evening or early Sunday.

I will be there leading a newbie run on Sat. We'll be going over the Naches Trail and later heading up to Funny rocks.

Meeting at the campsite pay station at 8:30, drivers meeting at 8:45 and leaving at 9. Stock or nearly stock rigs shouldn't have problems. The trip up to Funny Rocks is optional as we'll be going right by camp on our way back from the Naches Trail.
Meeting at what campsite pay station?

I am riding shotgun with Gary H and will be doing some spotting and video work as well. My rig is in the shop getting repaired from some Rubicon carnage so I'm grateful to be able be at this event. Looking forward to seeing my buddies and meeting some new folks. Maybe I can win the PR44 prize to help pay for the ProRock 44 Northridge is installing for me. Yep that sure would be great for me
