Default New JK, was TJ,XJ

Hi all Oregonians,

Just got a JK after years of TJ and XJ. My wife and I and 5 year old daughter are heading up to Browns camp next weekend to try out the new OME lift and new factory bumper winch setup. We're all heading to Canyonlands NP maze area in a few weeks, so I need to prove it out! Sorry, no pics yet, but I'll get around to it eventually. See you all on the trails.

Hey Guys,

New to JK-Forum and the Portland area.
Just moved here the beginning of March from Michigan. Happy to be here. Wheel'n looks to be way more promising.
Bought a 08 4DR Rubicon last week. Bone stock right now. Black with Dual Tops and 6spd.
Decided to post some pics of my last two Wranglers as the new one is pretty boring right now. (and I don't have any pics yet.)
One is a 2004 "X" and the other an 05 Rubicon, owned both while in Michigan.
The off-road shots are both in the OhioPyle area (SW Pennsylvania) where I am originally from.

Immediate plans for the new Jeep are mild lift and 35's. (much like the way I did my TJ's)
Probably in the next couple of months.

Oh yeah, cold air and Banks exhaust, both through Mopar. I am seriously missing the low end grunt of the 4 liter. No major complaint, just another thing to wrench on.

I hope to get to know you guys, and wheel with you.

I have three little ones, so free time is hard to come by, but I am dying to get this thing dirty and see what the trails are like in Oregon, so drop me a line if you need company on your next trip.

thanks.

Howdy all,

I'm in beaverton, just got my JK and swapped out my stock tires for General Grabber AT2's. I went with 305/70/16 (33x12) on an American Racing wheel with 4.5 inches backspacing. The fit is great, no rubbing!

Last weekend I took a few trips out to Tillamook forest where I found some snow at about 2,000 ft. You can check them out at my personal gallery at

Looking forward to some group outings!

Eric

Default Nice Jeep

Hey Eric,

Nice Jeep.

I work in Beaverton.
How far away are the trails in the pics?
Next time you head out, I'd love to tag along if you don't mind the company.

My JK is a stock Rubicon right now. 35's are suppose to be on the way, but I don't know when I will get the time to put them on.

The only modification I currently have is the ever important 30' tow strap. Hope to find some trails to put it to use.

Tillamook state forest ends up being about a 45 minute drive according to google,

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=e...,0.810242&z=11

While I've stuck to the regular forest roads on the north side of Hwy 6, there are lots of different trails available in the rest of tillamook state forest, here's a link to the Oregon gov site with a detailed map,

http://www.odf.state.or.us/AREAS/nor...0trailpage.asp

This weekend's a maybe for me and the following weekend i'm out of town, but hopefully in 2 weeks I can head down (May 3rd). I carry the ever important tow strap as well and a come-a-long until I can one day afford a winch.

Default Thanks

Spylife,

Thanks for the info. I will try and sneak away to scout it out. (Unfortunately even with four doors I can't fit the wife and 3 little ones all in the Jeep.)

What are the trails like out there? Are there any rocks?

From your pics it looks like everything is still covered in snow?

Do you need a pass/sticker to get into the park?

Sorry for so many questions, I'll do a little google research.

Thanks again.

Last weekend the snow was at about 2000 feet, but hopefully this weekend's weather will provide some more snow. My jeep's fairly new and snow's a great way to break it in, even on my own I can basically shovel my way out in a jiffy if I get stuck.

No really big rocks where I was, it was just a gravel forest road, but if you check out the tillamook map you'll see the red trails are more mud/rock trails.

You will need an ATV permit for your jeep (a Class II vehicle). I picked mine up at joes for $10 and its good for 2 years.

Thanks for the info, we checked out Joe's on Sunday.
Holy Smokes, my new favorite store. Besides keeping the kids busy for over an hour, I picked up a bunch of info on the trails throughout Oregon.
Gotta go back with my insurance card to pick up my OHV sticker this week.
Thanks again.

Default Hey PDX folks!

Nice to see some more Portland-area JK folks here... I haven't had much time over the last year to visit this forum or do much to my Jeep, but hoping to this year... Here are a couple of pics...

Maybe you've seen "baby" Sasquatch around? I know a couple of other local JK-Forum members that might like to join a local run.

BackinBlack, I think I've seen your JK on 185th... Those 37's are huge! Sweet 2dr!!!
