Here are a couple pics of a local Eagle. There is a huge nest about 10minutes away from my house out in the swamp.

 

Very nice, especially that second one.

 

My friend I have been going in the swamps with has a huge telephoto lense! We were aways from the nest but his lense can reach out and touch. There are so many around here right now we don't want to get too close and scare them off.

I'd have to say that second shot is darn near award winning....

 

Took a nice backroad trip to the Very Large Array near Socorro, NM and grabbed a few pictures, this one I liked as the array's antenna had all changed angle and pointed right at me.

 

Are those the ones that are just pointed out into space to possibly catch a radio transmission from aliens...??? Makes me think of that scifi movie Jodie Foster was in.....can't remember what it was called, but it was pretty good...

 

Those are the ones and yes they filmed much of Contact, the movie you're thinking of, out there. There are 27 in all over a massive open space of land.
