If you’re looking to give your Jeep JK Wrangler a 2″-3″ lift and have no plans of ever going taller in the future, there’s only one true suspension lift kit you should consider and that is the one made by Old Man Emu. Now, I should note that we did this Old Man Emu 2″ lift kit install on a 2-Door Jeep JK Wrangler X that already had 33″ tires installed on it. And, when all was said and done, I can tell you that this kit yielded closer to 3″-3.5″ of lift and had plenty of room under the fender flares to fit up to a 35″ tire. The installation is extremely simple and can be done in about 2 hours using basic metric tools.

WOL or NotMySonsJK I have a question for you. Do you think front and rear tracks bars are needed or would improve drive ability?

 

Thanks for the writeup Eddie. My OME 2" kit is sitting in the shop waiting for Spring. I have one question though, why did you recommend removing the skid for JK's with autos?

 

At the risk of sounding ignorant... Why OME?
I am wanting to run 35's and have no plans to ever run anything larger.
Street manners is very important to me. RTI... not so much.
I've never heard anyone say anything bad about OME but what makes them so good?

I"m looking for honest answers not flames....

Needed? No, but recommended, yes. They will allow you to reposition your axle under your Jeep but so far as I could tell, not having them didn't effect the driveability.

If you have an automatic, the front drive shaft will get hung up on it when lowering your axle. This will prevent you from lowering your axle enough to pull your existing coils and install your new OME ones. Once your are finished, you will re-install the skid.

OME is known for making coils and shocks that are specifically rated to offer one of the most comfortable rides that you can get with a 2"-3" lift. That's all.

I highly recommend the trackbars they will not bind like the stock ones when flexed and like WOL mentioned they will allow you to center your axle under your jeep.

Also keep in mind if you are looking at getting only 2" of lift dont order the HD kit unless you plan on heavy bumpers, winch ect.

I understand the importance of using an adjustable front trackbar, but could you safely & without much worry get away with using a good rear relocation bracket like the Currie Rock Jock? Or would you recommend using an adjustable rear trackbar also?

 

Thanks guys, I hope it will be able to help some of you out. As David mentioned, the HD coil kit will give you closer to 3"-3.5" of lift so if you're not planning to install a heavy duty bumper/winch, you might want to get the standard coils.
