Called EVO today to get a game plan on upgrades to my Jeep. I dont know if I called at the wrong time but they were not too interested in discussing options. Was told to bring my jeep in when I was ready and they would discuss it. Told me they had to see my Jeep. Asked again and again told they had to see my Jeep. 2010 Rubicon with 4 inch procomp lift, nothing unusual. Really wanted an idea of what I was going to do and pay before driving 14 hours to get it done. Going to give them the benefit of the doubt and try calling again in Dec before I drive out.

Any other suggestions for shops?

They really are the best out there just open any of the magazines catering to the Off Road world and you'll see them mentioned all through out their magazine. Really pretty difficult to size up the upgrades to best fit the individual over the phone....just my

I'm not so sure about how easy or how hard it would be. A Rubicon is the same no matter what. Oh wait some are painted different than others. I'm thinking they were short on time. Mondays is a bad day to call any company IMO. But by the same token, people are intending on spending thousands of dollars with them. I think they should at least listen to what you have to say. And advise. My two cents.

From my experience with ORE Mel simply will not sell you something you don't need. Sort of hard to determine a lot over the phone but if you stop in to their shop they will definitely spend the time with you. Agree that certain days are probably worst than others and last week (if you recall) was Sema so they probably were pretty booked up with calls and business already at the shop. Color issues aside.

Like I said, perhaps they were just too busy with current work to discuss my needs. Though saying they need to see my vehicle isnt really a valid response. Perhaps, "we are really busy right now, can I give you a call back in a couple days?".

Does anyone else have any recommendations in case they do not want my money?

Thanks for all the great comments about the shop. I really do appreciate it.

As far as calling the shop at the the wrong time, There should never be a wrong time to call. I will find out what happened to make you feel that way

My policy for our sales guys is: Any new 1st time customer, that already has a built rig or stock rig and is Looking To Evolve, we recommend setting an appointment to bring their Rig down to discuss their build. This way we can give an EVO Quality assessment and not just be some sales guy on the phone pushing their most profitable parts or specials for the week. We are investing time in your build to make it the best for YOU and YOUR budget.

Seeing that you are from out of State. Please give me a call and we can get the ball rolling. Get your parts ordered and set a time to make the trip down for your build. Looking forward to working with you.

I sort of know what you are going through. I started my build process with Offroad Evolution by email. I emailed a fairly detailed list of what I was looking to have done. I received an email response saying it was all achievable and that the shop was going to do an itemized build sheet with parts prices and labor charges.........then nothing for about 7 days. I called the shop to see where we stood and Lisa (Mel Wade, the owners wife) is who I spoke to. Bottom line, she was sincerely apologetic about the previous person I had spoke with about my build and that my build request had slipped thru the cracks. Also, she mentioned the individual had been let go (I think) and she wanted me to resend all the email traffic from the previous go around with him. By the end of that day, she had completed the work up for my build, sent me the bank account wire instructions for the money needed to buy all my parts.
Once the axles were finished by Dynatrac, they would call me to schedule me dropping the JK off at the shop. All this was happening as they were leaving for the JK experience, so they were busy. Then I get the call that my axles are done and I can bring the Jeep in, well this was happening as they are finishing the building of half a dozen trucks (maybe less) for SEMA. I dropped my JK off on the Monday Mel Wade and his crew were loading vehicles up for the drive to SEMA that morning. I did not ask for any special attention, I understood what they were facing that day, I was dealing mostly with the shop manager Brett. Not only did Mel stop what he was doing (loading the EVO M-37 trail rig), he gave me a tour of the shop, walked me thru all my build, showed me the SEMA rigs, and then offered to drive me to LAX airport for my flight.
Trust me, they want your business, they are extremely busy, everyone is now wanting work done by them, and that's everyone in the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Middle East. Like me, you are not the only customer they are dealing with, they really are busy man. Give them a chance, Mel and Lisa Wade seemed to be genuinely honest hardworking people, that really do care about your business. They were like old friends after just a couple of hours in their shop.

By the way, my JK has been there a week, I'm pinging and going thru withdrawals without it. But when it's said and done, it will have been worth the wait. I have seen up close and personal what the rigs look like coming out of that place. Seriously don't give up on them.

Sounds good Mel. Obviously you guys are the Pros from Dover by the comments here. Perhaps the better and easiest way to get this started is if I could email you what I have and what I want. When you get a chance if you could PM me your email address I would appreciate it.
