When was your's built? My Rubicon was built in late Jan-early Feb. 2007.

It looks like that may have started at the bracket weld on the bottom. It would be great to get pictures of each side of the break so you can look for the origin of the fracture. I don't see any rust so it looks like it is a brittle tube and it just popped but the jagged fracture makes this look like a manufacturing defect. Anytime you weld on a tube or shaft you create stress points. If I were Chrysler I would want to get that back to engineering for a metallurgist to examine under a microscope before they get someone hurt or killed.
If this happens to me I will certainly hire a metallurgist and get a detailed report.
