3rd Annual Skyline Trail Ride Weekend - Jan 27th-29th - 2012
I will be heading up there as originally planned. Worse case scenario the place is impassable I have two alternate back up places to go that are within an hour drive.
In years past the creek was a trickle the night we arrive and over night it had rain and the river crested quickly. Then just as quickly as the creek crested in went down back to its typical trickle.
I understand those that do not want to make the long journey but whatever the conditions, with this group a good time will be had regardless.
If anyone has any questions my cell is Four Zero Four - Nine Eight Three - Four Nine Four Nine

Keep in mind that it is/was flooding this morning in that area, but you say, "How can that be in that I heard there hasn't been a cloud in the sky for two days and temps have been pleasantly in the low 60s?" The answer is that in that area, it takes roughly a day and a half or so for the water to crest. So what caused the flooding you have been reading about in the NOAA reports? It absolutely hammered down water Sunday evening and night this past weekend. If there is a repeat like the weather folks are predicting for Thursday . . . well, you guys get the idea.
I will be happy to post Thursday night or Friday morning to let anyone on the fence (like myself) know how much rain we got if it would help.
The campsite up on the mountain that the "ranger" referred to is very close to the gas station we meet at on our first trip to Skyline. The group typically camps at the one down in the valley within a stone's throw of where we found this poor soul (he's on the county road that leads to the campsite area directly behind the photographer in this pic).
