Wesley's Observations: Somebody tell me how in the F%$* these numbers came to be?!?! Better gas mileage with aired down tires!?! Better economy on the Interstate going ONE direction vs. the other?!? WTF!!!!!

I use the JK's factory mpg guage, yeah yeah...I've heard all the stuff about it being inaccurate, but I have personally found it to be almost spot-on when you rule out human error. I was using the Flashpaq 91 Performance setting, and overall the above figures didn't differ from my previous trips, but boy is the JK a bit peppy on the hills and in passing gear. I might not have gained alot in economy, but the responsiveness and power curve are definently UP. I think the weather was a major contributing factor (wind & temp), and my personal experiences are that the JK loves the 60 degree temperature range. Anything cooler or hotter sucks the life out of the little minivan motor.

Thoughts? Comments? Anybody even give a F???
Wesley, I have looked into this a little... the major factors to the mileage are the aerodynamics of the Jeep and the temperature.

The computer for the motor is very sensitive to the temperature. When it is cold out side, the computer "chokes" the engine by limiting the amount of air and adjusting the timing. This makes the engine produce less horsepower and therefore you are "working" the engine harder than normal to reach a given speed. I have a friend from college that would create a simple piggy back circuit that would fool the computer into thinking that it was a given temperature no matter what. I will try to get a hold of him and get the parts list for the circuit.

I have been playing around with making my jeep more aero friendly on long trips. I have looked into creating a piece to fill the gap b/t the bumper and the front flare. Also, I have been trying to come up with something to help the wind go under the Jeep... if I find anything that helps, I will let you know.

Aw dude.. being that I studied aerodynamics in college I know every little bit helps.. but thats like a pinkie bandaid on a severed leg.. Trust me that big ole flat windshield and huge separation created by the flat back end is just more than the little 6-banger can overcome without suckin the bottom out of the fuel tank.

i try not to name toys unless I'm attached to them. I like the bike, but its not ideal. I'd trade it around in a heart beat. I want something just a touch bigger and faster. I know where a sweet zx10r is, but I don't have the funds together to go get it. All I know is its real fun to grab a handful of throttle on the bike. Its going to get me in trouble, thats why I don't ride it as much as I should

My mustang on the other hand, is "PB&J"

so is that bumper considered a mid length? I'm just curious. I think I'm going to go with rugged ridge stubby one with the stinger. I like the way it looks

The Saharacon is at Landers...chances of them ACTUALLY fixing anything, or diagnoising a problem today is 10%. I also told them I wanted the header replaced with the updated one, even printed out the TSB, they looked at me like I was retarded. UGH I'd rather just fix shit myself

I understand bro, it is kinda like that when I am in Alabama for me. Lots of family to visit and very little time. But if any of you are up here and have some time, lemme buy you a beer. If you have alot of time, lets go to the Superlift Offroad Park in Hot Springs... you will not be dissapointed.

Ohhh... and congrats on your engagement. RUNNNNNNN!!!!!

Just kidding.

Or am I?

Nice Body Armor bumper. I am actually surprised you got it given their reputation around here. They have an F+ rating with the better business bureau. Racin, get the Rugged Ridge bumper. I love that damn thing. You can check mine out next time I am down there or just look over at Jason's next time we do lunch.
