Next Middle TN Wheeling Adventure - 9/24
Hey guys. I'm in Memphis and my fiance and I were thinking about doing Land Between the Lakes this weekend. My Jeep is pretty new (and stock) and I've yet to hit any trails. Will I be okay at LBL with my '11 JKU Sahara? I know I'm going to catch crap for this but I'd prefer not to trash my new Jeep just yet. Any video out there of the trails? Also, do they allow backcountry camping at LBL? I'd prefer to stay away from the typical camp "grounds". Thanks.
Nothing wrong with not wanting to break stuff, but you'll be amazed at what it'll do stock. Do a search on youtube for turkey bay, should find plenty of vids

jrgray86 I have a slighly moded 07 JK, I am willing to wheel, I will see if some other want to go. LBL is $15 for the weekend, they have primitive camping. If you want we can travel the trails

Turkey Bay OHV area at LBL is the best place I've been to, and I've been to several. It is also the most appropriate place for stock Jeeps if you just want to cruise the woods and not break stuff. There really is something for everyone there and you can spend a whole weekend exploring easily, especially if it's your first time.
I'm hitting Turkey Bay sometime toward the middle of October when the leaves are changing. It's a gorgeous place. Also, by then the lake level is down and you can access the lake trail which is flipping awesome and leads you to the mud flats which are equally awesome with no breakage.

Thought I would drop in and say hey on the thread. Located in middle TN. Specs on my rig are below. Looking to wheel when you guys get out and ride. I was also on the October cover of JP magazine for a good pic of my ride. Hope to ride with you soon.
I didn't really take any this time, but I'm sure somebody will throw some on here soon. Great place, have to go back for a weekend trip sometime. Matt and Josh good wheeling with you again, and Jim it was a pleasure meeting you, looking forward to the next trip...Norm
I managed to not take a single picture :( Matt's GF is the official photographer, so lets hope she got a few! That place was crazy big. Would take a week straight to get through 1/2 the trails. We kept it on the moderate side this go around and had a great day with no breakage (that I know of). Maybe we can plan to go back here in the Spring in make a weekend of it.
I will try to plan up one more trip this year. Maybe back to Wooly's. There is still lots to explore there.
Everyone's welcome. Grilling out on the trail for lunch. Good camaraderie.... Couldn't ask for a better group of people to wheel with!
