Interesting comments about the wind noise. I have never noticed wind noise coming from mine. I have a hard top. Could it be a soft top only issue?
With the large amount of stuff now attached to my rack, I definitely get pushed around by the wind more. The rack and everything attached to it is doing great so far. I am going to make some mods to make sure my cross bars and the kayaks stay with the Jeep. Maybe some metal straps wrapped around both to insure they stay together.

I haven't installed anything on it yet since it's been snowing ever since i installed the rack. It might help maybe with some lights and a few items strapped on to the rack.

I mean yes like I have mentioned before. wind noise WILL INCREASE with any full size racks regardless of brand. and/or other vehicles. But one thing is certain that our Hardtop isn't insulated as regular vehicle's roof. In fact, it is hallow. Which creates bit more echo effect. And the comfort level of the noise really depend on the occupant's sensitives to noise and what may have used to compare to before or other vehicles.
And I am sure once the fairing is available. it will reduce down the noise level.

I also think it's very subjective and depends on how much noise in general will bother you. I have a soft top and a Gobi rack, and I have taken multiple long freeway trips, and it has never bothered me that much. Can you notice it? Yes. Am I thinking of removing it because I can't stand it? Far from it.
In the past I have compared the noise to the cabin noise in a 737, so I decided to start to establish some "hard" numbers to give people grounds for comparison. They're not complete -- several conditions are missing (such as the all-important had/soft top "JK without a rack") which is why I have not published them to date, but maybe these will help to start giving people more empirical data to work with.
These were acquired with my iPhone using an SPL measurement app. It's not certified lab quality data by any means, and I would not trust the actual dB values, since I have no idea what their reference point is, but for relative measurements it should be reasonably close.
The in-vehicle measurements were acquired at ear level between the front driver and passenger seats with the climate control blowers on two clicks. Subjectively, fan blower noise was negligible.
First up, passenger cabin of a 737, seat 17A (behind the engines):

Next, 737 again, seat 7A. I was surprised how much difference there was. I guess there's a reason they put first class at the front of the plane
:

2010 F-150 (very quiet truck actually) on an asphalt freeway @ 65 MPH:

And finally, the cab of my JK unlimited soft top on a concrete (louder) freeway @ 65 MPH:

Some initial conclusions: I was pretty much right on the money about the airline cabin comparison, assuming you're toward the middle/rear of the aircraft. Still, it's definitely a "safe" noise level and you can carry on a conversation.
I also really need to acquire the same data for a "gobi-less" JK hard top and soft top, and for a JK hard top with the Gobi fitted. I just haven't gotten a chance to ride along with David yet to check it out. I would also really love to baseline other JK racks, since I doubt they would be much quieter, but I'd rather have the data do the talking.
Anyway, here's hoping this is a first cut at helping people decide whether the noise will bother them before they buy.

That might desensitize me just a little bit!
