Suggestions for Tuffy full console
Believe me, if we could sell it for less we would. We actually have a lower margin on most of the JK products than the rest of the products in the Tuffy line. We don't just figure JK people have more money so we can charge more. The products are quite a bit more complex to manufacture in addition to huge increases in raw material costs lately. If you haven't heard, steel prices are going through the roof right now.
With that being said, we did make the JK console fancier than any other console we have made and that costs more. Additions like a 12 volt plug in the console, a gas shock to hold the lid open, and color matched powder coat and armrest do cost more but it made sense to us that if someone was driving a brand new vehicle they were going to expect the accessories to match the quality of the interior. We could definitely make a square locking box to fit in between the seats for pretty cheap but then everyone would complain about the "boxy look" etc.. Thanks for the input though.

I was actually think the this was cheap..
it is cheap considering JUST the security you get from this, then there is the bonus of it having more room in it and the higher arm rest
oh by the way for haha's I priced out the center console from jeep, comes to about $306 thats at moparpartsamerica, and thats not the list price, list is about 20-30% more, so this is really a great price
Now I just have to decide when I can get my jeep into be line-x'd so I can install console at same time

No offense taken by Tuffy. I just wanted to reply to your post with some input as to where the higher price comes from on the JK console. We need to hear comments both good and bad. If everyone thought the console was too expensive we would have to look at removing some of the features and making it cheaper. So far feedback has been mostly positive so we are going to go with this version for now.
Thanks

I feel ya on the steel prices. I own a machine shop and some metal has went up 300 to 400 percent in the last couple of years. Alot of people just don't realize what goes into making something like this or a complex machined part.
