Suggestions for Tuffy full console
Here is the most current info on the Tuffy JK Security Console. Our JK will be back by the middle of the week which will allow us to fit everything and do a little testing. Here is the info I got from our product designer:
Jeff,
Here is an illustration of the JK full console prototype. It is taller with the pad extending forward more than the original. There is a stereo/CB mounting bracket inside with an exterior hole for the Mic, larger drink holders, multiple flat switch mounting surfaces, interior removable tray, interior power outlet, larger storage tray on the automatic models, Pry-Guard II locking system, Larger storage area, Factory colors, and is estimated to be around the price of an 067 maybe a bit more. No heating or cooling system is built in but a handy Jeep owner may be able to rig a thermoelectric (Peltier) cooling/heating device to work. These are available on EBay for relatively cheap but we have not done any testing so far and have no idea if it would actually work on the drink holder. We may pursue that as an option in the future. Also, we have another design where the stereo/CB is in a separate compartment but the large armrest would need to be much smaller and would barely be usable so we opted for the interior mounting bracket instead.
Hopefully this will not reveal to much proprietary design information to any knock-off companies like Smitty****t or IVa**t but it appears they do not have an R&D department anyway and will need to wait till ours is available on the market so they can get one and make a flimsy scaled down copy overseas and try and pass it off as an actual security product.

Looks like the double stick'll fit just fine there.
Vacation's a month away. Jeff, I sure hope I can fit everything in the JK I'm planning on bringing back from your place. Do you prefer cash, check or card?

Correct, there will be provisions for the factory power window switches. It looks like we will provide a plate to cover the cutouts in the back of the console if you don't have the power window switches.
The same concept will apply if someone is not going to mount a stereo or CB inside the console. We will provide a bracket to do so and also provide a plate to allow the whole console to be used as storage.
Some sound will pass through an opening in front of the CB which will also help in keeping radios cool.
There are a variety of external speakers available that could be hooked up to the CB. This seems to be the best option in maintaining the security and weatherproofing of the console.
Nope no additional parts, the sides just have 4 different mounting heights for the drawer, if you look back on page 16 of this thread you can see my pics and see how much clearance I have under the drawer, I mounted it at the highest point. I figure if Bestop ever releases their full soft doors I can store them under the drawer maybe when they are off.
as far as suggestions how about making sure that it has a lock that doesn't fall apart in your hand like on my TJ
and maybe add some good customer service reps to back it up. i had to break into it to get my wallet out while in the middle of the desert driving from california to pennsylvania. The answer i recieved after several phone calls was they'll fix it, but i had to ship it on my dime, and pay for the repairs out of my own pocket.
i'm sorry if i sounds bitter . . . . i am, the box was only 4 months old and i basically threw 300 bucks out the window of the jeep. That left a really bitter taste in my mouth about tuffy. I'm sure they're a great company, maybe i just got a crappy rep. who knows.
on a side note, had a HELLUVA time breaking into the thing. It took about an hour with a crowbar. I just didn't think i should have had to pay to get it fixed when it wasn't my fault i had to break into it!

Sorry you had a bad experience with Tuffy. Give me a call and we can figure out what happened and what needs to be fixed.
