What would you like in a snorkel design?
Working on it ... Printing prototypes now.... Takes a little time for them to be put together. Will try to have some more shots later next week.
We are keeping all the input and trying to validate as much as possible at this point of development.
Also have some other new projects that will be pretty cool for next year... Think cool new bumpers for the JK ...

please make tha bumper to go with the jeep lines!
on the snorkel ,I like the scuareish look.!...
.
Something towards the real off-roader.. Something that looks as good without a winch as it does with one.... As with the XHD this will be a one bumper solution with expandability. Function is the starting point and we are dialing in the looks that gives something a little different than what has been offered. This will include a new rear matching (off-road) bumper system as well.... Wish we could give sneak peaks but expect it around the same time we release the snorkel. We will try to pull as much of the snorkel look into the bumper... Textures may be different.
This system does not replace the XHD but offers a new direction that we have been lacking.

Personally, I would like to color match the base and if I bought the snorkel extension, it wouldn't matter since it would probably get hit with limbs and brantches all the time while wheeling.
That's a good idea. I think having the base color matched so it blends to the body and give the option of having the stack color matched as well.

Concerning the color matched debate, I think that the type of JK model also plays a major role. The black base might not look bad on an X or Rubi, but for those of us with Saharas, I don't feel that the black base would look good. I just don't see the contrasting black flowing very well with the color matched theme of the Saharas. That's why I at least think that color matching/paintability needs to at least be an option.
If we could just take the snorkel to a local paint shop to have it color matched, I guess it would be ok, but I know that other snorkels, like the AEV, cannot be painted because of the type of material it is made out of. I hope that the type of material that the Rugged Ridge snorkel is made out of will not create this same problem for those wanting to paint it.
