As for adding an additional failure point, wouldn't adding the snorkel be considered an additional failure point? Just something to chew on.

If my guess is right, they are playing with running the intake down the inside of the hood radius then it would minimize the parts count with having to route this to the throttle body thus reducing manufacturing costs and keeping the cost down to the end user.

If I recall correctly they stated no or minimal cutting and that it would work with the dual battery kit.

Just my .02.
You may be misunderstanding what I'm saying. If I'm not mistaken they are talking about routing a tube from the snorkel to the factory airbox then to the throttle body. As of now like most snorkels you will have to tie it into the factory airbox. this means you will have to seal it to the box with silicone or something. What I'm saying is forget that. Take the snokel and bypass the factory box with a filtered tube to the throttle body. this gives less connection points and less air restriction. Less air restriction will increase fuel economy, that is if you don't stomp the gas because of the icreased horsepower. This settup will have nothing to do with more or less cutting. It would actually be an easier install faster install. If done right the only additional cost would be the filter that fits in the tube. I've invented and produced a couple of products with extruded and molded plastic in the RV market so I'm familier with the cost of setup and manufacturing. Actually you've inspired me to do a sketch draw up of the setup. I'll try to get it posted soon.

This is the goal... The image shows a raised intake for development. Working out intake path to reduce heavy, heavy, heavy rain run off while not moving. Sounds funny but you will have less water in this area driving than sitting still.

It works with dual batteries... Trust me on this .

I wish people that haven't read the whole thread would stop posting. If you read the whole thing most of your complaints/questions would be answered.

Rugged Ridge has said many times this will work with their dual battery's, their light tabs and their light bar. If you have some other manufactures accessories this may not work for you but please stop whining about it or claiming it won't work when you have no idea. This isn't going to work with every mirror/light bracket, roof rack, light bar or home made dual battery setup ever conceived. It's a freaking snorkel for crying out loud, it's going to run into other things that are installed in the same space. At least give them credit for attempting to make it more compatible than most other snorkel designs.

Those that want a high performance intake and are willing to pay for it are in the minority. This has to be affordable or it won't sell enough to make it worth making. You can't have a high performance snorkel intake, that makes no sense. Your worried about turbulent air? What do you think is happening inside the snorkel every time it changes directions?

If you want a wild board snorkel or some other design than do it, stop posting here as if your threatening to not buy this. FYI as of the writing of this post the wild boar snorkel is not available and they are claiming "very limited quantities" will be available soon. Rugged Ridge has been up front about the time line this whole time. If you need something now or for this coming wheeling season go do it. There will always be something better coming. The constant whining isn't going to make this happen any sooner. I'm willing to bet things like A pillar switch pods make RR more money just because the target market for snorkels is so much smaller. So be happy they are investing into the R&D required to make this happen. If you want to see this happen sooner buy their other products, support them with your wallet. Then you'll know that what your investing in will work with the snorkel when it is available.

Great points jeepcachr!

Hopefully people will be more understanding if they read the whole thread. Yeah there is a lot to read, but it will answer most of the questions, especially the ones that keep coming up over and over again.

Folks, we should be thankful that they even used an open forum like this for our input. How many other times have you been asked from the get-go for your ideas on the design of a mass production unit? They aren't banging 3 of these out of their garage, where you can make easy adjustments as you go after building the first one. They need to make sure it's right the first time, and that takes time. It's coming, be patient. You've gone without one so far, right? What's another few months...

AMEN!

I am also waiting patiently for this snorkel and can't wait to see how it turns out. I'm willing to wait because in my opinion it's the best option for my JK and where I go.
