Thumbs up Looks like the RR design and test team did it!

Haven't posted in this thread since page 6 but the attached RR supplied photos have me interested. Judging by the RR post on page 70 they had a tall order of design goals and it appears they came close on some and exceeded others, just an overall outstanding effort by the design and testing team. Ram air stack and low profile modes are working for me. The bowl pre-filter not so much, but that is just me and my applications. Nice to have the option though and I can see how the low bowl would serve many people and their needs extremely well.

Will need to see price and the under hood routing before making a final decision between the RR and AEV but durned if RR isn't in the running. Bumpers, tire carrier, pre-runner mount, RRC rails and now maybe a snorkle, our jeep may be a rolling ad for RR.

Im hoping that low profile one is a little prettier when production comes out. If that ugly scoop wasnt on it and instead making the part it attaches to the scoop, it would look a lot cleaner.

2 questions ?

Since you (RR) is trying to set up a new design and standard.

1)Why use plastic?

I would like the snorkel to last as long as my jeep :!:
How about Aluminum or some other metal instead of Plastic.

2) The Air Pipe is in front of the windshield Pillar
How about making the Pipe more Aero Dynamic instead of square ? Like a Triangle facing forward to brake the air better. /\

I'm not RR, but plastic is totally cheaper to manufacture, lighter in weight and can be molded as opposed to a crack your windshield metal.

As for being triangle shaped? I can't picture that looking good honestly.

1 -The plastic degrades with time even if UV protected. That is why a mentioned other material. With plastic you have to gave a mold($$) made and use injection machines to make them (If that is how you plan to manufacture them)

Using a metal alloy, that will not rust, you can lower your production cost. It will not brake like plastic and you can Paint it any color you like.

2- The Triangule shape was just food for though.

I've been following this thread since the get-go... and EVERY question that's been asked for the last 20 pages or so has already been answered more than once. F*** I wish people would just read through the thread if they're curious. This thread would easily be 50+ pages less if people weren't so freakin lazy.

Hurry up and release this snorkel already so we can all stop anticipating. I know I'M eagerly waiting.
