Default $575 to change a hose

I just got back from the stealership and they told me that I had a heater hose bad in the back of the engine compartment. Dugh, I knew that already. Unfortunately, I can't change the thing due to a broken leg, so the guys have got me by the balls. I need my Jeep but they want $575 to change the hose, which they didn't even have in stock the got to order it from a Texas dealer. They said they got to take off the intake and top of the engine, I feel like I got hosed!

Forget the stealership. Take it to a mechanic or auto service shop. Guarantee you they'll do it for half of what the stealership is wanting.

I've never figured out why so many people run to the dealership for service. Use the mom-and-pop places for this stuff!

Ridiculous. Take it to a mechanic; I bet they can get it done for 2 less hours of labor. Dealers pad their service hours ridiculously. Like almost double for certain things!

Heater hoses should still be covered under warranty service for an 08...unless you bought it used or have a huge amount of miles. Call up Chrysler, give them your VIN, and ask if you are eligible for that kind of warranty work.

It sounds like this dealership is givin you the shaft. If it was my JK I would tell them not to touch a damn thing, pick it up, and take it to a reputable certified mechanic.

how broken is your leg. its not that hard to do? $600 at a stealer is nothing, almost twice the labour price, twice as much for the hose and coolant too.

If your not a machanic when you buy your jeep, you will soon become one.

Even if it's used it shouldn't matter. As long as his mileage ir low enough. I've had warranty work on my 08 and I bought mine used in February.

39k on the mileage, I called Chrysler and they're looking into it about the warranty on the powertrain. I could do the work myself but I can't put any weight on my left leg for another 8 weeks.

go to a mom and pop place, why go to the dealership? especialy if you don't have a warrenty you won't have to worry about voiding it. go punch those idiots in the face, (or hit them with your crutch) and tell them to shove it. for the most part the dealership guys are pricks. good luck!
