remove the spring and be done with it!
Don`t worry about pinching your fingures either..I have done it once and it didn`t even hurt.Only reason it happend cause I did it the next day by forgetting the spring was gone, haven`t done it since.

I am hoping SOMEONE comes out with a METAL catch and a better strap system soon. That is what I want. Maybe even with a locking device... Come on aftermarket...

Being a Jeep newbie, the first time my hood flutter, I thought it was coming off. That was enough for me. Ordered up the Daystar latches and havent gotten any flutter since.

My wife called me on her drive to Florida scared shitless. She thought the hood on our '09 was going to fly off when she got close to a big rig. POS hood latches, I'll have to pull the spring when I get down there.

Ditto on the spring removal.
I waited months to do this and should have done it on day one.

Take out the spring and you're done with it all.

Zip-tie addition fixed my flutter. By flutter I mean the hood slamming up with force enough to actually concern me. I didn't die because of this, but felt is was definitely a possibility.

Since zip ties have been installed there has been absolutely no movement.
