Default '09 Hood Latches...

... don't work!!

They are really no better than the old latches they replace. At normal highway speeds (65~80) they work fine. Throw in some head wind or pass a big rig going the other way on a two lane highway and the hood stills dances just as bad as it did with the pre-recall latches.

For now I went back to the zip tie fix. Next step seems to be the Daystar latch route. Do they actually work and put a stop to the hood flutter?

Thanks for your inputs.

With head winds and trucks on the highway doing 75 they seem to hold the hood down quite fine on mine...

I had the same thing happen with my 09 the other day. We were on the highway at about 75 mph, as I got close to the back of an 18 wheeler the hood started bouncing up and down. Scared the @#&@ out of me, definitely gotta look into fixing it.

No pics needed, the '09 latches look the same, only a little stiffer at first. Seems like after a month or two, they start stretching and are no better than the previous ones.

So, back to the original question... how do the Daystar latches seem to work over time? I understand they are much stiffer than the Mopar OEM ones.

From what I hear the Daystar latches work well, I just took off my hood spring and have not had an issue since. It's free and takes about 30 seconds to accomplish.

Mine totally solved my problems. Night and day difference. $7, 5 min, and I still have the spring.

Yeah, mine worked fine for almost two months. I guess the warm weather we've already had down here must of stretched them because the hood was jumping all over they place on the two lane highway a few days ago.

Mine never worked on my 2009. I could not tell a difference in the recall ones and the ones it came with. Jumps all the time.
