It is the little spring on the hood next to the center latch that you have to move over when you open the hood. You only have to remove one bolt I believe to take it off.

I've read a bunch of threads on hood flutter and looked into getting new latches, zip ties...the works...

Finally I thought, "why not give the hood spring removal a try?" Took me all of one minute or less, the hood is secure, and no more wind flutter...I kick myself for all the wasted time on looking into "mods" when it was one bolt and presto!

I got the recall notice but never had an issue with hood flutter so I never brought it in to get replaced. You guys are saying it's not even worth it than? Just invest in the daystar ones?

all im saying is the daystar ones are great... its harder to put on than stock, they strech alittle after use (not as much as the stock ones did) and you have to break (with 2 vice grips) the stock setup to install them...

I have questioned buddies who have jeeps of all years and all of them say the same thing, when i pass a semi the hood jumps around, with the daystars it doesnt on mine so im happy.

just my 2C

I installed the polished stainless latches and have had no problems with hood flutter at any speeds. Only issue I had was that now I have an area of rubbing on one of the edges of the hood with the body

I'm not going to touch mine. The hood flutters but I figure if anything COULD happen it would have happenede already.

Not to mention, has anyone heard of a case where the hood has come up?

Until it starts happening, like I said I am not going to mess with it in fear that SHOULD something happen JEEP could just turn around and say that there were modifications made to the hood restaint system that releases them from a personal liability.

Good luck to all of you.

Not exactly, but there was one case reported by a forum member a couple years ago where the hood latch came completely free and the hood was caught by the safety catch. He said it scared the piss out of him (as you can imagine).

Instead of doing nothing, why not just put on some Zip-ties? Surely you don't think that the dealer would disavow liability because you strengthened their shoddy design by adding to it, do you? Or, here's an idea for you: Since you're saying it doesn't need fixing, how about putting a couple 11" Zip-ties in your Jeep's glove box? That way when you're tooling down a two-lane road in a 50 MPH crosswind and a semi passes and the hood jumps 3 inches and you shit your pants, you'll have the parts to put a good fix on this scary problem.
