Default 12 Manual Tranny - issues?

any one have any issues with the 12 manual tranny? Mine is making a noise: high gear, low speed, intermittent. Have not had time to take it in, but it is definately going in.

Just wondering if anyone else has had any, or heard of any issues.

(Not the popping out of gear, apparently that is an issue with the boot)

My 12 does make some noise while in 3rd and 4th gear... like a high pitched whine sound, hard to describe. It's so quiet I'm willing to bet the service department will just say "we can't hear anything" like they always do, but it's definitely there.

Is that what you're talking about?

negative, in really any gear under 2k rpm (except first) there is a metal chunking noise, like a chain is clacking up against the metal housing it is sitting in. But theres no chain that i am aware of. and its not consistent (this is where i am going to have a problem at the dealership)

It did it pretty good the other day, it seems like it is comming from the bell housing. lower part of where the engine and trans meet. at least it felt that way inside the jeep.

Mine rattles in 3rd and 4th gear.....now that it has about 3800 miles on it 4th gear has gotten a lot quieter. 3rd is still noisy. All the other gears are quiet.
What type of noise is yours making? Can you describe it better?

Ah, ok - mine isn't experiencing that... I'm at 1,800 on the odometer. Best of luck at the service department!

I notice a little sound when going about 1-2 mph and slowing down to a stop light in the city......only in first gear, but nothing like you are describing.
Well bring it in and have it looked at....if the problem doesn't present itself right then and there, at least you'll have record of it.

The 2012 Rubicon manual we own makes more gear noise in the even numbered gears than the odd number ones. Probably not the same as what you're experiencing though.
