2008 LHD Jeep Wrangler Clockspring Customers.
According to jeep we are stuck fixing our clockspring until eough of us that have this issue report it. We have to have about 160 complaints before they include us on there recall list. So go to https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ and file your complaint. Please post here if you have filed so i can start tallying the people so i can call Chrysler.
I'm not down in the USA but I filed one up here in Canada for my 09. I have not hit the 3 year anniversary but I went per the allowed millage so no more warinity work for me. If your in Canada file one as well with transport Canada, maybe we can get the recall going up here as well.
My Wife Rang Jeep Australia to find out some info on this as my '08 is affected. Their response was that it only affected RHD vehicles made in a separate plant which were for a US Postal Service contract.
The exported RHD wranglers were made in the regular plant and not affected.
Not sure how true this is but just relaying info from my wife who is relaying info from some receptionist at Chrysler Jeep Australia.
I'm not holding out for a recall.
The dealership quoted $1,400 ($1,220 part, $180 Labour) to fix the clockspring.
Ended up getting the part from a US site for A$230 delivered. Will have a crack at changing it myself but have the fall back of getting it done at the dealership for $180.
