Default 2010 JK Fan Speed Control gets VERY HOT.

I am only wondering if this is considered normal?

The fan speed knob gets pretty hot to the touch, it is most noticable around the little AC button.

Does anyone else notice this?...I don't remember it being an issue on my old 08 Sahara.

I have a 10 Rubi and it doesn't do that. The temperature is normal. Was there any work done on it or did you tap into something for a mod.

Nothing, all original.

I was thinking the HVAC control switch bank was bad...must be deffective.

Everything works fine, it just gets hot to the touch, this one is getting reported.

Thanks

My 08' Sahara Unlimited has been doing that for quite a while. Not giving me any problems so no real reason to complain about it. Like to see how you make out though.

Ditto on my '09 Rubi- noticed it has done this since new. Pretty impressive how hot to touch it gets but no smell of melting plastic or wire insulation. Similar heat to what a small bulb would produce.

So, it's doing it with the lights off, yeah? Mine gets hot when I've had the lights on for a while as the backlighting heats it up, but never noticed any heat coming from it with the backlighting off.

I work at a dealership, and there's so many JK things. Like the 4' 9.5" 75lbs woman that brings her 10 JK in every week. She insists there is something wrong with her soft top because she can't get the header latches to close.
