Default 2012 Rubicons allegedly coming with 3.73's instead of 4.10's ?

I heard from some folks (including a quality local jeep shop) that some of the new 2012 Rubicons are being built with 373's instead of 410's. Anyone know? If so any way to check without tearing stuff down?

True, 4.10 is an option.

Hop online and find that website that allows you to put in your VIN and it will give you your build sheet.

2012 Autos come with 3.73s unless 4.10s are specified.
2012 Manuals have 4.10s

EDIT: This pertains to Rubicons. I don't know about the others. I think its 3.21 unless specified.

The easiest way to check is to get your window sticker and look for 4.10s. It will be listed in the right hand column.
The easiest way to physically check is to count how many times you need to turn the driveshaft to rotate the tire once.

It's a free option on a rubi. It's probably a charge for a non rubi

True... mine is an automatic but was ordered with the 4.10s. The 2012 Rubicon w/AT I had for 2 hours before it was totaled came standard with the 3.73s.

If you are going for a lift and big tires then go with the 4.10s. If you will NEVER lift it and add big tires the 3.73s are the better option due to the power of the Pentastar and the 5 speed AT. With the 4.10s and stock tires you'll run about 2,600 - 2,700 RPMs at 70 MPH and that seems like way to much gearing.

... UNLESS you order the tow package, then the Rubicon, even manual, comes with 3.73s.

Also, the limited reports I've seen say the 3.73s and Pentastar are fine even with the larger tires.

EDIT AND UPDATE: If you read the rest of the thread, you'll learn my statement is incorrect (and why it was incorrect). ALL Manual 2012 Rubicons come with 4.10s and 3.73s are not an option.
