I think the service writer knew it wouldn't fix it but said they had to full Jeeps procedures.

The jeep service departments are full of total idiots.

Just took mine in to the dealership again this afternoon while the noise was happening. Two techs came out to look and originally they thought it was the alternator but diagnosed it to be the water pump. They both said that they haven't heard of or changed any water pumps on the 3.6's yet.

Luckily they said they'd change out the pump with no issues and if that doesn't fix the problem then move on to something else. Will see what happens when the jeep goes in on Tuesday.

Default recall not likely

A recall is generally for a safety item, and not a wear or nuisance problem. If this is a wide spread issue they would just issue a TSB and instruct the dealer to replace it.

You also have to look at this from the dealers and manufactures perspective. They can't just throw parts on it because the backyard mechanic thinks he knows what the problems is.

If it is the pump on a 2013 it will be covered under warranty. It will be corrected with no money out of your pocket. Be patient and work with the dealer, and in the end all will be corrected.

If you wanted a perfect vehicle with no issues, then go over pay for a Mercedes or Maybach or something else I can't afford or spell.

Ours is starting to make noise also. How long are the dealerships taking to replace the pump?

My dealer received the new water pump for my '13 JKUR in less than a week's time so I just need to schedule the appointment.

Chrysler changed manufacturer on water pump, so new one will work better.
