Well please follow up. I'm curious to know if they find out what that ticking is. Just odd that it was happening on my 2013 then my current Jeep.

I just picked it up from the dealer. It is running perfectly quiet now. According to the service ticket, the noise was coming from a sticking valve. I have added a photo of the service ticket in case that helps anyone.

was told it has to code to get the head replacement . My 2 door rubicon was manufactured early 2012 model , Actually built in November 2011. It Still ticks loud @ 55,000 miles never through code as of yet. But you can hear the ticking from ten feet away / has not exploded .

2014 JKU started ticking around 95K. Also had the no heat issue so I figured I'd knock both out on one visit. Dealer ended up shot gunning it by replacing all the rockers, all the lash adjusters and all the cams. That fixed it. LoL! Did the heater core, radiator and a valve as well as a flush. Heat fixed. Thank god for the unlimited mileage lifetime bumper to bumper warranty. That would have been expensive.

Unreal. My 2013 JKU just started ticking last month and my powertrain warranty end in December 2018.

Dealership scheduled the service but told me it will be outta pocket

My carmax warranty should cover it but deductible is $300.

Warranty ends in December 2018? Or, ended in 2017?

My power-train warranty ends in December 2018 (based on years). I plan to let the dealer look into my ticking at the 50k mile service coming up soon.

I have a distinct valve-train clicking that is more evident with the engine cover removed. But, I have a loud ticking that sounds louder when standing near the front tires, like something from below. I have seen no codes or performance changes. It hasn't gotten worse, but wasn't ticking when I purchased it used in 2016. May be all the same problem.

My bad. I meant that my warranty ended Dec. 2017.

You may wanna look at the MFR date by the drivers side pillar along with the stamp on one the drivers side cylinder head.
