K&N makes a good air filter and it's cleanable so you'll never have to buy a new one. I just put on an aFe intake and love it. Amazon has a few different styles for a pretty good deal and like the K&N they're cleanable too.

I use disposable air filters. Change it every 10,000 miles. Had all three, my 1st, 2nd & third ranking:

1) Hastings #262-AF1337 (Has a nice gasket around the edge)

2) Mopar #53034018AE

3)Wix #495-49018 (Gasket was loose around the edge)

Have no filtering data.

I just took the k&n out of my wife's mini cooper and it now runs better with a paper filter. I think what is going on is that our area has been hit with incredible amounts of pollen. I think the pollen stuck to the oil, eventually reducing air flow. I may go back to the k&n when the pollen stops. I think pollen may clog an oiled air filter faster than a paper one because the way the pollen can get stuck in the oil. I expect this might be different than dry pollen getting stuck on a dry paper filter, but that's just a guess.

I bought the Airraid cold air induction. sounds mean when accelerating, but best thing, like K&n, all you need to do is wash it

I have just not had any luck with cotton gauze. My vehicles have all run better with a paper filter. I buy whatever is on sale at the local auto store. Typically Fram or STP.
