Love my AFE Drop in. Better throttle response and gas mileage and only $60. Of course its reusable as well.

I tried the rugged ridge filter and there was no difference between it and the stock paper filters performance wise.

mr lobaloba,

Where can you buy the AFE drop-in? The design is very interesting.

Can get them from a bunch of distributors. Just do a google search. Heres a link to Quadratec.

And a pic of mine installed. You can see the cone peaking out through the stock intake pipe.

If you keep the filter oiled the particles are minimal. Take that little "S" snorkel off of the stock airbox and see how you like it. Sounds less like a mini van now.

I use an AFE Dry drop in.
More air flow over KNN and NO OIL required just wash with soap and water let dry and run.
4wheel parts or 4WD is where mine came from.

Yeah, I wouldn't be too sure of that. Personally, the little to no performance gain is not worth the risk of sucking dirt into my engine. People have talked about how much dirt is let through by K&N filters and their like are for years... Here's a couple I found in a 30 seconds of searching.

Default Air filter

AEM is what I bough. They come in a deep dish version, more filter area. I don't know where some of these guys drive or live but I have to clean mine every 5,000 or 6,000 miles. I'm real happy with it. I do go in water and muddy trails alot.

I'm in this camp too. I've seen dirt get past first hand.
