which air filter?
As a former Chrysler Dodge Jeep service advisor, I've seen particals get past a K&N filter used in EXTREME dusty conditions. The particles ruined the engine. Guess what happened... K&N replaced the engine just like they said they would.

FWIW, I ordered a filter from Quadratrec in Feb.
The one I ordered is a synthetic dry filter.
To clean all I have to do is rinse it off and blow dry and reinstall.
No oiling required.
Here is the info on it:

Iv had it in since Feb and ,to me, it works great.
Hope this helps.

K&N was founded and created by Baja desert racers in Southern California. They actively sponsor the Baja 1000 and other desert racing activities.
They know a thing or three about sand and dusty conditions.

I've see where talcum powder dirt has put a chase vehicle out of the race, and when taken to the dealer for repair, warranty denied because of K&N use,( the race vehicle also put out of the race, that same talcum powder dirt ruined eclectic fan motors to coolers )
(( racer's you know what I mean ))
2. If the JK is your daily driver and depending on where you live " choose wisely if you want a 200,000 mile engine."
filtration is the key to the engine's longevity.
