Default Alright i cant find this oil change

Bought oil changes from the dealership, my owners manual said my jeep would tell me when an oil change is needed, but I'm over 6000 miles right now. When will (if it will) my oil change light come on?

That will depend on the type of driving you are doing. Stop and go vs highway, moderate vs aggressive, and Oil quality.

Don't listen to the computer that's asking for trouble especially if your not checking your oil level. I know your is new but you still should check your fluids on a regular basis that is simple preventative maintenance. If it was never change from when you bought it how do you know they even put enough oil in it to begin with just saying

Mostly correct except for oil quality. The OCI algorithm is based on many parameter, basically those mentioned plus things like number of cold starts, time at operating temp, ambient temp, rpms, throttle position, and more. The exact formula is proprietary. But no measure of oil quality is made, it assumes conventional oil and is considered a conservative measure. One thing it supposedly doesn't account for is overly dusty environments.

It's not a mileage or time (date) counter. Nor, as mentioned, does it measure volume, so check your level frequently. Don't go over your warranty requirements for max mileage and time. What's the max interval now? 10k/1 yr, I think.

If you change your oil with or without the OCI warning, be sure to reset the OCI.

The way some folks use their jeeps a 2-3,000 mile change interval really is necessary but others can easily go 10k or more.

Same here man I got it from the dealer the next day I did an oil change since it was used! And now I don't really use my jeep as much so I still do it at every 3k maybe let it go couple hundred over 3k but no more than 4k, my jeep burns oil so I have add a quart about every 800 miles depending on the oil I used

Default Oil change interval(s)

I change oil and filter every 5,000/miles (as well as rotate my tiires) and have done so my whole life.

I purchased my first Jeep (CJ-7) new in 1982 and put almost 250,000/miles on it with zero engine trouble. Have driven other cars well over 100,000/miles using this same interval and have yet to have an issue related to oil changes.

For me it is easy .....every 5000 miles is easy to track and remember.
