annoying clunk...
Hello everyone. I have about 2k miles on my new 15 JKU now. In the past couple of weeks, there has been a random muffled clunk that sounds like it may be coming from one or both of the passenger doors. Cant find anything loose...anyone else experience this?
Thanks

Had a door clunk when I fist got the Jeep. Dealer looked at it and did nothing. Try loosening the strike plate on the door jamb, move it slightly, then retighten. For me adjusting it outward did the trick. Also shoot a little white lithium grease into the latch mechanism on the door.

Had the same issue with my 12' JKUR. There are lots of threads on this... Most of which say to just wrap electrical tape around the metal latch where the door locks onto. Wrap the tape around the latch about 6-7 times then try closing the door. It should fix the problem. I did this on all 4 of my doors and fixed the problem

Agree on the tape. But read a little on the number of wraps. I had 4 or 5 wraps on my 08 and eventually blew out one of the door lock actuators. Did some reading on the board and I recall seeing that folks had success with 2 wraps. Switched mine to 2 and haven't had an issue in 5 years. Just redo the tape every 6-12 months and you're golden.
Just be careful rubbing the tape with your clothing as it does get tacky and messy. Putting kids in the backseat means I constantly have black marks on my arms!
Dealers will typically grease the doors but that wears off and you get the clunk again. Search "B pillar door clunk" on here and you'll get a ton of feedback.

Thanks everyone. I have applied some clear gorilla tape to the striker bars. We shall see. I am not absolutely conviced this is it but it certainly seems to come from the rear area and is so random like just a result of body flex not going over bumps etc.

check the rear tail gate door
they also clunk if you put the gorilla tape in the strike plate latches on the door this will tighten the fit too mine clunked
also check the tube that goes to gas tank behind wheel well drivers side they can clunk
and also your upper shock bolt nuts if loose can cause clunks
the clunk can take a while to track down because theres so many senerios' when new and the sound travels hard to locate it
the tape would be applied to upper and lower part of that u shaped latch on the door just fold it over (sorry for the crappy arrows pointing to the areas
