Default IGNORE THIS- Not Solution

FOUND IT!!!!!

OK Guys- Noise is coming from the seat belt slider bracket.

1st I took off the seat belt- pop the cover off with screw driver
There are 2 places that hold the seat belt cover on- 1 on the right and 1 on left.
(Small Screw driver in the middle slit on right side of the cover)
(push screw driver in then pull cover towards you)
(Then slide cover to the left towards the rear of car)

Then I Use a T50 torq to get the belt off the slider.

Next I took the panel off. There are 3 push pins holding it on. 1 on top 1 middle 1 bottom. I didn't use a panel popper tool which I should have and broke a plastic rivet- glue will fix that.

So with just the slider and bracket on I drove around and click/click/click it went.

I slid it half way so it didn't lock into position and the noise was gone.

So now is the part I have to figure out what will make it stop clicking.

This weekend I will take the slider apart and see what can be done.

If nothing then I can either have the dealer replace it and still have the problem come back

Or I can permenently fix the seat belt in one place and not use the slider at all because Im going to be the one driving my car 99% of the time.

What are your Thoughts?

Glad I used to be an installer and not fear ripping the whole car apart to make it better.

I have considered fixing mine in one position as well, I was going to just silicone it in place that way it would be reversible if needed.

I am thinking just stick the existing slider and seat belt in one position/place with something that could later be removed.

Is it evident what is rattling in the slider? Has something worked loose and is rattling metal against metal or is the slider rattling against the vertical rollbar?

My faith in DC's ability to correct the problem by installing a new slider isn't that great I think that a couple of months down the line it will work loose and rattle again.

I say fix the existing slider in a semi-permanent position.

Default FORGET THIS PART Too

I like the permenent position idea. I want to take the bracket off and drive around just to make sure tonite. If it is, then I think I will fix it to one spot.

As far as whats loose inside, im not sure yet. But I'm on it.

Default Tried this and No good

I tried the electric tape and it didnt work for me. After having it all apart and still hearing it, While driving I put a screwdriver into the door striker and it went away.

I sat at a stand still and tapped the striker with the screwdriver and heard the noise up top bc they noise travels up the pillar!

I was trying to figure out why the noise went away with the seatbeat latch half way, but the only conclusion I can come up with is " the road weren't right for the noise to come back while I had it off.

So instead of electric tape, I use a strip of velcro- soft side. It will be hard to close at first but then after 4x it works itself in.

It stopped the noise for about 30 min and it came back

Did all this and still the noise was there.

Its inside the pillar somewhere and there's nothing else to take apart

Its a strange situation from hearing it, its seems to be at ear level I cant imagine how the door latch sound would travel that far, maybe its something loose inside the actual tubular roll bar, how is the seat belt attached to the roll bar? Are the wires for the overhead speakers running thru the rollbar could they be causing the noise? Only other thing to do is to drive with doors off to see if its the door catch or not.

Hey Spozzie

I sat and tapped the door striker and heard through the pillar.

>maybe its something loose inside the actual tubular roll bar

I was thinking about that- but after taking all the padding off, its just holllow.
in that area

>how is the seat belt attached to the roll bar?

Seat Belt is attached to the pillar arm. There is a brace that is attached to the pillar that the slider sits on

>Are the wires for the overhead speakers running thru the rollbar could they be causing the noise?

From what I can see the speaker wire are running on the other side

>Only other thing to do is to drive with doors off to see if its the door catch or not.

I drove with the doors open and holding it while driving and its still apparent.
