No problem removing the plug on mine, hot or cold.

A 13mm socket does the trick every time.

Then again, the torque spec is only 20 ft/lb. I've never had a leak, never rounded off the head of the drain plug. Some people reef on those things and it's completely unnecessary.

I will change my oil hot or cold. I inspect the oil drain plug and replace at any sign of rounding off.

I have one and I love it. Takes a lot of bother out of changing oil.

I always wanted to try the valve but was Leary of it snapping off if it got hit with debris from the road. Would valve be a reason for the dealer to deny warranty if there is oil issue.

I have the fumoto and cracked the nipple off on a rock. I got home a week later, was out of town, and not a drop of oil had left the motor. It's a tough piece of equipment, it just drains slower than I have the patience for.

I have 5 vehicles in my household and although the valve may drain slower than the drain ply it would still save me time as I could drain the oil and not make a mess.

I don't go off extreme off roading just some minor trails and beaches. Guess I'm going to order for the wrangler and see how it goes.

Thanks.
