If I ever decided to drop nearly 30K on a motor swap, you can be damn sure it wouldn't be a hemi. Thats a lot a cha-ching for average crate motors.

Please update this thread when the engine is diagnosed so we can hear if the engine has a major failure. Do you have a line on a mod friendly dealer that is unlikely to reject you because of a "big tires, it must be abuse" type mentality?

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Do you have an auto? Any chance the flex plate came loose or cracked? They often sound like rod failures.
or it gets water in the engine and the "compression" shoots it out the side of the engine.

So, it turns out that all 6 cylinders were scorched and one on the pistons was broke all together. Turns out the oil crank shaft was completely stripped out and caused the oil pump to no longer work.

Total cost to fix it, $9,000. All covered under warranty.

Default blown engine

I blew up a Sea-Doo GTX limited's engine before...

in some obvious budget cutting move they used a plastic impeller to pump oil in to the engine (2 tanks, it mixes by RPM), and the impreller broke...

well, what happens to a 7,000 RPM 2 stroke without oil.....

KA BAM.... the cylinders siezed to the sides... had to tow it back to dock then swim it in...

all under warrenty... now they use a rubber impeller....

this was long ago... a 1997 I think... now i want the new 255 HP 4 stroke...

OHh, and I blew up a 1996 Ford Escort.... the engine blew up, and the KBB was like $300.... so we called someone to 'take it away'.... i wasnt going to deal with that shit for a $300 car... it started smoking at a red light, when i popped the hood black black oil was ALL over the underside of the hood like it blew up and out of the valve cover! i shoulda got some pics...

I wanted to drive my jeep over it before it was taken away; but I never got around to it.. and I didnt wanna risk $$$ tires on glass / metal...

its one thing to get a flat on the trail, its another to be stupid...

Seems a bit much, a crate engine plus labor should be only a little more than half that. Doesn't really matter much though, does it?

Glad it was convered fully and that you have it back, 2nd chance a new engine breakin, eh?

Are they going to rebuild the engine themselves and charge back to Chrysler for all that labor, or are they padding the figure to make you feel better?

I'd take nothing less than a new engine. What happens when you want to trade it in and they baulk at it because of the engine work?
