Auto Tranny Puked!
best of luck to you man! I went through the same B.S. with my 05 Rubicon that I had. From the day I bought it new, it had a rattle in the engine, like ill-fitting piston pins or the pistons slapping the cyl. walls, whether the engine was cold or at operating temp. And ofcourse everyone on the jeep forums slammed me, asking why I was worried about a little engine noise, its a jeep! I said yeah, well I'm paying a lot of money for this new "Jeep", and I shouldn't have to put up with a faulty product that doesn't perform as it should! The dealer always told me that they couldn't reproduce it or that it was normal. I finally complaigned enough, and they decided to do something about it. They asked if they could keep it for a week or so, have the tech drive it home at night so he had ample time to replicate the problem. I said sure, what ever it takes. Well, they give me a old chevy pickup as a loaner with wipers that I find out later don't work, and we're getting a snow storm. I take it back, they give me a old Isuzu Rodeo. With 3 bald tires! Well, after a week, we're supposed to get a really bad ice storm. I take it back, say I'm not driving it in that crap with bald tires. They give me a 4x4 Dodge ram. The alternator dies on me that night. Take it back, and they give me a Dodge Caravan, which I used for the remainder. And, after 3 weeks, they tell me its fixed, they replaced the transfer case, and that took care of the noise! Ofcourse it didn't. If it makes the noise, at idle, while parked, why would you think its the t-case?! After that, and them not acknowledging the problem with it Pinging, no matter what gas I ran in it, I filed for Lemon Law, and wound up settling out of court. The lawyer explained to me that in most cases like that, the offer they gave me was actually better than he usually gets. And even if I turned it down and took them to court, he said they would probably just appeal it even if I won, and it would prolong the whole thing another year or so. So I took th money they offered me, put it down on my Jeep loan and traded it in on a pickup. I swore I would never own a Jeep again, but here I am with a new JK anyways
I just couldn't stay away, I missed having a jeep so much. But guess what....I've got pretty good lifter tick in this one! It seems to run fine, and Chrysler wants me to run it till I hit 6,000miles and have it checked by the dealer again to see if its gotten any worse. Oh well, here we go again. Anyways, just thought I'd let ya's know how my experience has gone with Chrysler too, and that even if you win your case, they can still appeal it and drag it out even longer.

Histrung,
Did you notice your RPMs locking up at about 1500 until you pushed the gas pedal all the way down and then a spike in RPMs and a vibration in the floor at that RMP prior to your tranny going?

Other than that, I didn't notice anything outside the norm. Sad to say this shouldn't be the norm (TC locking up) but I was just used to it on these hills around here.
BTW... no matter how many times I pushed the gas to the floor, it would not change/shift, until it slowed a significant amount -- then bam, max RPMs.
sounds like you were fixing to be screwed. Check out this link: http://www.daimlerchryslervehicleproblems.com/
im pretty sure mine is getting ready to go. I had it in for service a dozen times and everytime i complained about the tranny. NOthing found but every single day i start it up , put it into drive and the 1-2 upshift feels like i am driving over a railroad track. then it wont do it until i leave for lunch that day. the shifts are erratic now as well. come to a hill, hit the gas to compensate and nothing...more gas nothing...almost floored and it upshifts ??!!?? then downshifts and redlines the rpms. i feel like i am on a freaking bronco rodeo horse. i never owned a vehicle that i had to manually downshift (2 or 1) just to make it up a hill. i have to drive it like its a manual. i hate this freakin thing and love it at the same time.

But the last 5 times i complained about it they tool it on the road test around the block and said everythign is normal. now its me agaisnt the dealer an dthey are the only dealership within 100 miles so im screwed. This is why i have not lifted or modded a single thing in the last year. i know its going to take a big shi** on me and i dont want them to blame anything doen to the jeep.
