tell them that they are right, and it is royal purple ATF and then hand them a printed copy of the magnuson-moss act and tell them to fix it under warranty.

X2...I had my wifes K5 Blazer burn trans fluid just like that, at 220k miles. Torque converter wouldn't lock up and it over heated bad...new tranny time.

Wow, such BS, i'm glad I'm too poor to buy cars new...

I would be so disapointed in dealers / warrenties / etc...

(you know, that and depreciation, 08 Tahoe new = $50k, 1 year old = 30k!)

of course the JK is the #5 value holding vehicle, so its less of a loss...

You could always use this as an excuse to drop a real engine / tranny in it...

a FORD 3.5 or 3.6 is it? gets 265 HP, while the JK gets what? 205? Please...

Get the 5.7L Hemi from a grand and the tranny while your at it, and slap those in! then you wouln't burn anything but tires!!!

I added a tranny cooler to my TJ even before I got 35s... and it has 4.11s stock...

I was thinking about a tranny temp guage as well...

ohh and, FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT! too many people lay down and take it... or bend over and take it, or lay on the sofa and take it, or face down on the table... well you get the idea... i gtg find my girlfriend... :-x

I think you said you bought your Jeep in Omaha. I bought mine in Blair, NE at Woodhouse Jeep. They have been super at taking care of any defects I have found. Plus I have known this dealership for over 20 years and they have always taken care of me extremely well. I think Woodhouse had a dealership in Omaha too, if that is where you bought it, try calling the selling dealer to see if they can help you out. I know my salesman personally and he has helped a lot of his customers. Some of the stupid shops are just down right crooks and it sounds like you found one very deceatful dealership. At least I know one to stay away from.

Good luck as you deserve better treatment than that from any repair shop.

Anyone with a 2007 picked up around Jan-Feb of 07 willing to show a pic of what their tranny fluid looks like? Just curious if anything, as I wait for the test results here this week. I'd like to know what it looks like now (even though I know what standard ATF looks like) with someone who has roughly the same life on their Jeep.

Also, been out drinking a bit for stress relief... <clear> look at my profile and you'll see the only dealer in the town I live in...<clear>!

Time to forget about this and go be friendly with the wife now that SabrToothSqrl planted the idea!

Yup, bought mine from Lee at Woodhouse -- very nice dealer! Lee left though... Not sure what they could do since this dealer marked my Jeep for life on this issue (<clear>)...

So, interesting thing is the color is not a typical ATF -- so here's the pic of the samples -- from left to right - skidplate fluid (pointless once the leak started where I was able to get more), from the tranny dipstick, from the engine oil dipstick, and from the dripping tranny.

It's not that thick, and does not really smell much... I still think it is burned up, but friends who know the smell stated it doesn't smell like it's burned.

Still waiting for the call back from that 800 # supervisor...

Next step is to send for analysis... and looking for a good lawyer <clear>

BTW, when they had to drive it in the shop to get the samples, my 5 month old Yellow Top Optima was too dead to start it <clear>

The second sample from the left definetly looks like burnt ATF to me. That exactly what it looks like if its over heated. It can even turn real dark like engine oil. I had a friend one time have a tranny leak and instead of fixing it just carried around a case of ATF. When it got low he would put a quart in. The day he killed the tranny it started leaking worse. He was on the turn pike and he lost all power to move the car. So he put and quart in and took off, until it wouldn't move anymore. Then put another quart in and repeated this until he heard a loud bang and the engine started to rattle. When I opened the tranny it was nasty, black as motor oil but man did it smell.

However I did notice that AFT+4 does not smell like normal tranny fluid when new. So that might make is smell different when burnt.

My 07 was built in Feb of 07, purchased in May of 07 (May 4th) and I know 100% certian that the ATF is red and smells like it should. I know this from my cooler install. My 07 has 12000 miles on it.

So, when I win this battle one day and before they start the warranty work, I want to have my vehicle towed to a different dealership for the repair.

Anyone in the Denver area know of a good dealership to establish a long term relationship with (Mod friendly)?

Thanks!!

Does anyone have any experience using synthetic ATF. I looked at some different brands that state that they will reduce the transmission temp over conventional and are compatible with chrysler
