Pass on buying them. Use a screwdriver in between the inner/ outer C and give it support as you slide it in. I purchased some years ago and they didn't fit well so I chucked them instead of installing.

I have heard a few people say they don't use them. They are stricktly for keeping the shaft aligned during installation right? They serve no purpose after installation is complete?

Also do aftermarket axles use them?

You can get them if you want, but as I noted in your other thread, the sole purpose is to hold that end of the axle shaft up semi-aligned with the hole in the seal you have to slide it through, and they really don't do a superb job at that IMO. Other than that, they sit on the shaft and spin around within the air in the tube once everything is installed. Half the time they bend and deform and are worthless anyhow. The $12 would be better spent on a 12-pack of beer.

Ya, I have decided to skip them, just worried I am going to have a hard time finding the hole..... I guess I'll give it a shot! Thanks again.

If the guide isn't on the shaft when you pull it out, and you do indeed go without one, when re-inserting, hold things so the outer stub shaft saddle is up/down, and the inner shaft saddle is side to side....that way the axle shaft isn't able to flop down as easily due to the u-joint. Its motion will be side to side and you have better leverage to hold it up in the middle of the tube as you insert it. It's really very easy. All of this makes it sound hard, but it's not.

As above, they are not needed, but, they do make it pretty easy to install the axles without nicking the seal

@Michael Belliveau If you really, really want them I bought them for my first axle seal job and they were useless to me. I’ll send em to you if you’d like. Shoot me a PM.

That's amazing! However I already replace the seals without them.... Wasn't too hard. Haha. Thanks for everyone's help!
