That's great. I just want to add that a friend had a strange noise coming from his axle on his 2012. He was worried about this strange noise, especially since a blizzard was expected and he would need 4WD. I talked him through pulling his axle shafts so he could check things out* and was surprised when he told me that there were guides in there. I've pulled my axle shafts several times and there aren't any. And we both have the axle shaft inserts welded inside to strengthen the tubes. Anyway, one of them had gotten mucked up from mud and was pretty much destroyed. That's what was making the noise. He's not a bogger, but in our overlanding we do get out onto some occasional muddy situations. So, just a word of caution to those considering using the guides. FYI, I have 268,000 miles on my JK, he has about 100,000 on his.

*I live in OKC, he now lives in Helena, MT.

Other than that, they sit on the shaft and spin around within the air in the tube once everything is installed. Half the time they bend and deform and are worthless anyhow. The $12 would be better spent on a 12-pack of beer.
so if I'm leaking gear lube and it's not because the axle shaft guide what else could be the cause for the leak out of the end of my axle

Well, it's certainly a leaking axle seal. The guides are simply plastic ring on the shaft that "helps" align the shaft in the axle tube as you're sliding it in. I say "helps" cuz it still don't get it perfectly aligned with the axle seal the shaft has to slide through. It is possible to get an axle shaft through the axle seal as well without those guides if you're careful. It's the passenger side that is a little harder cuz the length of the shaft.

Remember folks those guides also keep the end of the axle out of the inside tube grit and keep the seal clean as they guide the axle through by keeping the end of the axle off the dirt. The guides worked perfectly on mine when installing axles back into old seals and still no leaks.
