Exclamation Body Damage Warning

Just an FYI to prevent anyone else from making the same mistake.

IF you don't have your door straps hooked up DO NOT let your door swing open, like on a downhill or even on flat ground opening with any force, or wind. The new mirror design on the door will hit the cowel panel just in front of the door and put a large dent into it.

Thanks for the heads up.

I have noticed that the sheet metal used on my JK is a lot thinner then the metal on my TJ.

yep, they even mention that issue in the owners manual. definately something to keep an eye on whenever removing the door straps for whatever reason.

I have seen it on the dealer lots and on other threads. Probably a salesman showing how the door straps come off and neglected to put it back on. One guy was blaming kids skateboarding around his Jeep. He felt bad when he realized what had happened.

so that's what it's from then...i was uh, ummm, waxing (I know I know, it's a JEEP but winters are harsh here with more than enough of salt thrown on the road) for one more way to protect my sheet metal during the "Salt Belt Months" and i noticed a small dent in that exact same spot. it's nowhere near as bad as in that photo fortunately, but it's there. i'm not too concerned with it, the paint is not peeled or cracked at all. i just never noticed it until i started waxing that small area and i scratched my head wondering 'what the he77' could've hit that...it's not from me, i haven't had the door straps off at all yet, so it'll be from the dealership. Thanks for pointing that out SeeJeepGo, won't have to wonder about it anymore

I would take it back to the dealer, tell him you haven't had the straps off yet, and get them to do one of their paintless dent removals.
