Default Change oil indicator light.

Just a quick question.
How does the change oil indicator light work and will it reset automatically when I change my own oil? If not how do you reset it?

I'd like to know more about this too.

I changed my oil at 3200 miles and it started telling me to "change oil" again at 5800 miles...

Both answers are in your owner's manual:

Change Oil Message
Your vehicle is equipped with an engine oil change
indicator system. The “CHANgE OIL” message will flash
in the instrument cluster odometer for approximately 12
seconds after a single chime has sounded to indicate the
next scheduled oil change interval. The engine oil change
indicator system is duty cycle based, which means the
engine oil change interval may fluctuate dependent upon
your personal driving style.
Unless reset, this message will continue to display each
time you turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN
position. To turn off the message temporarily, press and
release the Trip Odometer button on the instrument
cluster. To reset the oil change indicator system (after
performing the scheduled maintenance) refer to the following
procedure.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (Do not
start the engine).
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly three
times within 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.

Some Jeeps have a problem where the indicator comes on too soon. There is a TSB for a reflash to fix it.

someone said, on another thread about this, that it isn't completely reset after the "on, depress 3 times, off" unless you continue and remove the key from the ignition, and open the door. I don't know if this extra couple of steps is absolutely necessary, but I figured it couldn't hurt, so I did it that way, it reset on the first try.
I'm just mentioning it in case yours does not reset right away, trying adding the remove key, open door steps.

Yeah. Why is that so damn hard for people to do? Are yall that damn lazy? Why in the hell do you think owner's manuals are printed? To add extra weight? I can't figure out why in the HELL someone would pay between 25 and 33K for something and NOT read the instructions. Stupidest thing I ever heard.

Settle down now.

It must be pretty frustrating for some one as smart as you to be surrounded by so many stupid people.

Are you a Mensa member or something?

Well, since I ain't the shineyest apple in the bushel, I was reluctant to reply to this thread.
I read the book, tried it, didn't work.
Reread the book, tried it, didn't work.
Read this post, tried it, didn't work.
Re read this post, tried it very carefully, didn't work.
Tried the key removal/door open , didn't work.
Now, I readily admit that I would like to get the light to stop blinking. Then there is that annoying boing sound.
It is so bad that I risk ridicule by my peers along with reduced self esteem as a result of my failure.
I need suggestions, please
