Clock Spring Re-call - Now Electrical Problems (Maybe Dealer Caused?)
Stock JK TechBulletin board forum regarding issues with OE (original equipment) components of the Jeep JK Wrangler (Rubicon, Sahara, Unlimited and X) such as factory suspension parts, engine, transmission, body parts, interior fixtures and the on-board computer.

I received a call from Chrysler, the man on the phone informed me that he needed me to get my Jeep to (Auffenburg Jeep) the dealer where I purchased my 2008 Sahara JK the following morning to have the clock spring replaced. I don't hear well so I always have the phone on speaker. At the time a friend overheard the conversation. The Chrysler man mad it sound as if I was in danger. I happen to be the Coroner for the county and I questioned him about the safety of driving it to the dealership and having clock springs inspected from wrecks that involved Jeeps. At the time my sister-in-law was the service manager for the local Jeep dealership. I told the man that even with that fact I could not call and get an appointment for 12/23/2015...to which he told me to hold. within 3 minutes he is back and tells me that I will be 1st on the list, to have my Jeep at Larry Hillis Dodge at 8:30am for the service.

I drop my jeep off at 8:25 am. Everything works great. At about 6pm I pick it up in the parking lot of the dealership and when I turn the key it wont start. 6-7-8 tries then it starts. Turn on my radio and I no longer have 1/2 of my XM/Sirius stations. I call the next morning and I am told the next available date to drop is 2 weeks away. During the next 2 weeks, the windshield wiper motor goes out, the alternator, the ignition will not start on first try, electric windows work sporadically. This starts a series of Chrysler Customer Care complaints. Was told that the record showed i had volunteered for a test and had given my clock spring to Chrysler and therefore they were not responsible for any damage. directional problems and pic to document 2015 before the clock spring change. New shoes, lift, bumpers, hood and leather seats
August 2016 Still fighting over electrical issues with Chrysler, told not a warranty issue nothing they can do. The dealership finds that one cylinder has melted through the engine wall. For some unknown reason that piston received more fire than the others. At this point I get a new engine. Electrical continues to fall apart as the compass begins to show North when going south or east when going southwest.
January 2017 Jeep returned after engine replaced. Dealership had the jeep for nearly 6 months. None of the above mentioned electrical issues were repaired by Chrysler. I paid for all of them. On taking the jeep home with my new engine. The fuel mileage dropped from 16 mpg to 12. I had a check engine light come on. Code was for 02 sensors. I was told I needed new Catalytic converters at about $3k. Was told the new engine had destroyed the O2 sensors, not covered by warranty. Also started having death wobble and destroying tires after engine swap. (in August of 2015 I had a mopar lift and fox shocks installed along with a double steering dampener spent about 8k on the set up was told it was only way I would not void the warranty). 4 inch lift running 35s. No off roading, No mudding. 5 customer care cases opened all closed without my knowledge or consent. During this past 18 months my cases have multiple case managers. Start with nice ladies and eventually assigned a man who is very rude and blunt. (I believe this was an attempt to aggravate me to the point iIwould just give up)
2018 - Still electrical problems and had to replace passengers front Fox shock plus 2 sets of tires in about 15k miles. Continued to fight over O2 sensors and fuel mileage.
2019 - Went through several batteries finally put on an Ultima Red. No issues since with batteries.
2020 -January still having issues. 1st told had a bad , then told no its your radiator. Then after radiator replaced told ohh no its a blown head gasket. Trying to get the jeep running like it did before 2015, warranty fixed a new head gasket on new engine. Now on waiting list for a transmission.
This year replaced O2 sensors again, another passengers side fox front shock. double steering dampener Was told yesterday that the transmission that was supposed to be 2nd week of February. Now told it will be at least May 2021. Chrysler tried to buy me out for $9500.00. What an insult. My jeep is high milage... I expect repairs and I have paid for all of those that are not warranty, however I was told that it is possible that the program that must be done on the clock spring could be programed in a way to cause issues with other electrical components.
OP - started out bad but glad you got it sorted!
Akersjeep - that looks like a Chev dash to me in the picture. What a story of bad luck but I doubt if it is all linked to a clock spring change.
