If you are under the 12k "Wear item" warranty then do it before it costs you $$$$$. If you wait past 12k....prepare to be scrogged.

I am planning on waiting. I guess I will do it before 12,000 miles and hope all the bad clutch disc's are gone and they put a good one in mine.

Mine is going in tomorrow for this...

I thought it was 20k miles and thought i would wait... 11900 miles on my Jeep right now.

Only reason i brought it in early is because i have a motorcycle now and can do without my Jeep for a couple days while they fix it.

I got lucky lol

Well, I just got my Jeep back.

They had to keep it a few extra days because they could not get the muffler to lower so they could drop the tranny. They ended up cutting the exhaust bolts off with a torch and took them a couple days to get the parts they needed to mount it back up.

So far so good... not a peep out of my tranny, shifting into 1st, 2nd, and 3rd are a HELL of a lot smoother now. I did notice that the clutch grabs a lot closer to the floor now. Before it would not start grabbing till the last 3/4 of letting off the clutch, now it is within the 1st 3/4. I actually stalled it out pulling from the service depot (and felt like an ass) because I let the clutch out expecting it to be where it was before and jerked the car forward and stalled.

On the freeway the Jeep seemed a lot more quiet too... but that just might be because I have been riding my motorcycle since Tuesday morning and got used to the wind noise.

All in all, I’m happy I took it in. It drives better than the day I pulled it off the lot.

Does your clutch pedal vibrate now that you have the new clutch?

Nope, not at all.

It feels a lot better now. It's more smooth when pressing the pedal now. Before i felt sort of a "grind" when pressing it all the way to the floor.

But there are no vibrations or anything that i can feel through it. No feedback that i can tell.

And the problem with that would be ...? Just kidding, but after 4500 hours of C-130 flight time, I'm rather used to that sound. Back on topic, my JK has a very slight squeak sometimes when I shift--really just a brief chirp. I'm loathe to take the vehicle back to the dealership because I don't trust their mechanics to do the entire job as well as the factory did. I hope that this decision doesn't turn out to be a mistake.

You can tell by my user ID I spent a few hours in a 130....not 4500 though.

I have labored through the stupid clutch problems and have to admit that after much perseverence I think I acutally have this thing finally dialed in.

But...its not easy.

The first trip got me a throw out bearing.

The second trip got me a new clutch.

The third trip got the inner boot put on right.

...and, I think its pretty tight now.

So, you can get stuff worked out but you have to be ready to talk to the service guys and tell them how to do their jobs
