Is the "chirping" that you're talking about a persistent whistling noise that seems to come from behind the glove compartment? If so, can you stop the whistling by barely touching the clutch pedal? Are there any other problems that seem to be related to this?

Mine is with the dealer right now for the third "fix" for this problem. Everything from the throw-out bearing up has been replaced and re-replaced. I hear a sputtering noise when I accelerate in gears 1-4 starting at about 1500 RPM. The whistling, however, can be heard while accelerating as well as at a steady speed.
The shifter is getting harder and harder to move through the gears, especially reverse.

Does this sound like the same problem you're talking about? Or do I have another problem? Or does it sound like all the problems I'm having are even related to one another?

Bring this back to the top. Any updates on people that have had it done. Is the squeak coming back?

it seems to me this fixes things but it comes back eventually from reading all the posts and you risk the dealer messing something else up so the better question is the one people keep asking but not getting answers to which is by not having anything done are you screwing anything else up that would be a more costly problem or repair down the road. in my limited knowledge of the innerworkings (big technical word there) of a vehicle the answer is i don't really think so other than possibly a little more wear and tear on the clutch than normal but again i'm no expert. what i do know is mine has been squeaking since 1000 miles and i never had anything done to it because i took it in twice b4 the TSB came out and they couldn't find anything and since then i've decided i have better things to do in life then screw around with a dealership multiple times so now i have 31000 miles on it and haven't noticed any more problems as a result of not doing anything and i still have the squeak. i have wheeled frequently and tow a 2900 lb RV regularly and the clutch is still solid, just squeaks when shifting (actually squeaks less when towing and offroading). so at this rate i believe the clutch will wear it within the normal lifetime of any clutch i've ever had and at that time i will replace with a good clutch installed by a reputable mechanic not a MO-FO dealer. that's my two cents anyway. you get a lot for 2 cents apparently these days. unless someone tells me i'm destroying my transmission or something by not doing anything.

I've had the chirping and at 18,800 miles my clutch is giving out. The dealership AND CHrysler Customer Support denied to replace it under the warranty and are quoting me $675 +tax to replace it. I'm going to scan the document they gave me and post it. That clutch disc just cost Jeep the purchase of a new vehicle... If they will not back their crappily built products, I will not buy them...

It seems obvious that the 12,000 mile warranty is in place because perhaps Jeep knows that eh clutch will burn out and they can stick it to the consumer with their crappy suctomer support.

This person wasted my time and my money. I took a day ffo from work to bring the Jeep to the dealership and leave it there to be "Looked at"... check the milage in and out. I'd called on a Friday and gave the problems and the milage. I asked this Thomas Krowiki why he wasted my time. Why on Friday if he knew the milage and that it would be denied under warranty did he have me take a day off from work, and rent a car. His response, We needed to see the vehicle.

What kind of crap is this? Is this what american business is turning into?

That really sucks! Did you try another dealer? My dealer covered ours for that TSB and the clutch squeal TSB. They didnt even question it. We had about 16500 on it at the time. I've also read that alot of other people had it covered after 12K. It a shame your dealer is treating you like that. Did they give you any other reason for the warranty denial? Or was it just because of the mileage?

The denial from the dealer and Chrysler customer support was mileage. They said it was past the 12,000 warranty.

What dealership did you get the work performed at?

Mine just started squeaking at 8500 Miles - It wasn't doing the squeaking, then the damn JK started stalling! It died twice in a busy intersection, and I rode the clutch for 5 seconds, then I smelled burning, then the squeak. I'm kinda pissed, because this damn thing "phantomly" dies out about once every 2 months or so... What can I say, I knew I was buying a Chrysler.

Anywho - I got the Service Bulletin and I am debating on taking it in.. I do love loaner cars! good for causing touble in!

Anyways, my .o2 -

Default It's back

Sorry to bring up this old thread... BUT....

My clutch was replaced in March 08, on a Jan 07 build, at 4500 miles for the clutch chirp. (JK Unlimited Sahara). ok, All was good, until about 9500 miles... and it's now coming back. The sound is mild right now, and happens when the Jeep is warm. But I fear I'm on the same path as with my first cluth disc. (By the way, our TJ has 89,000, on the ORIGINAL clutch. I don't think we're 'hard' on clutches.)

The dealer told me I'm past the 12 months even at 9990 miles. I may get a second opinion on that. However, if the clutches from Chrysler are gonna all chirp, perhaps I should just wait for a higher quality after market one, and I'll tell my passengers that sound is just the turbo wastegate dumping the excess boost during acceleration.

Does anyone know if there was a clutch revised part number? I would like to know if I have the latest part number.

RATS!!!

I worked in a dealer as a tech for 2 years before moving into working for small shops and I have to say I find it sad how all dealers get a bad reputation from the ones who try stupid stuff. I guess its like that with a lot of things, but I put hard work into people vehicles as if it was my own. There were guys beside me doing the same, but I've seen how bad dealers operate so I don't blame you thinking that way. I've seen guys brake clean leaks that should be under warranty so that the next oil change the car has it will be out of warranty and they can write it up immediately for that leak. Those dealers ruin it for all dealers, but those dealers eventually have it coming to them. Just a sad cycle...
