code reset with key sequence?
I have a 2009 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. The check engine light is on. I used the key sequence method and observed code P0300 at the odometer. Is there a key sequence method similar to displaying the codes that will clear the codes?
I know that AutoZone will let customers use the AutoZone scanner to clear codes. I know that disconnecting the battery will clear codes and result in a computer relearn.
The P0300 code is difficult to diagnose since it is a random misfire detection.
About 7 months ago I noticed excessive oil consumption (2 quarts in 900 miles). The dealer replaced the rings. My jeep had 55000 miles at the ring replacement.
I have put about 2700 miles on the Jeep since the rings where replaced. I suspect that the excessive oil consumption may have fouled the plugs causing the P0300 code.
Until I get the P0300 cause determined I would like to reset the code in my garage without disconnecting the battery and without buying a scanner. If a key sequence code reset method is not possible please let me know. I plan to use a fuel additive to clean the injectors, plugs and valves then reset the code and see if it reappears. I also plan to visit the dealer for their opinion.
If a key sequence code reset method is not possible then I will buy a scanner.
Thanks for your help.

A cheap scanner is a good idea anyway. I've got a number of bluetooth ones that I use with my vehicles as well as friends. (Old Bluetooth Android or iOS phones work great in conjunction with the scanner.)
I've seen bluetooth scanners for as little as $15-25 online.
