Default Damn Water Pump

Just when I thought I was one of the lucky ones, no head problems, I start hearing the infamous chirp of a water pump. 7500 miles and my water pump is shot. Have to bring it in tomorrow so that they can confirm before they have to order the part. At least my dealer gives loaners. But come on, seriously, 7500 miles for a water pump bearing?

Atleast a water pump isn't to hard to replace.. if I'm correct. What year do you have?

I did read in the other water pump thread that there is a tsb on the water pumps.. not sure if its true or not. Ask your dealer.

And be aware, the new OAT formulation Chrysler is using does not have 2-EHA as did/does Dex-cool or other OAT formulations.

But I have read *unsubstantiated* statements that the new Chrysler OAT is the same as newer dexcool formulations. I'm not ready to believe that.

The (new) OAT gives good, long lasting protection but apparently the protective deposits may not form for up to 5000 miles. I'm suspicious that the early failure of the '13 water pumps may be due to early corrosion/cavitation for this reason.

Color is no longer a reliable indicator for coolant (and hasn't been for a while).

Went to dealer today. They took me without an appt and were going to fix it right there, except they didnt have a loaner for me.
Going in after the holiday weekend for replacement.
This was almost too easy.

Yup my 2013 with 3500 miles on it started making a loud squealing noise when at full temperature. Took it in yesterday they called today and said it was water pump seal. They replaced the entire water pump and told me to come get it today. When I got there the manager said that was the 6th jeep this month he had to replace the water pump on.
