Default dash lights

Has anyone noticed the off road light that does not light up in the dash? Noticed it in the bright sun wheeling a couple of weeks go just wondering if anyoneknows what it is for?

Interesting you mentioned that. Today I also saw it and was wondering about the same thing.
Do not recall seeing it in the manual and too lazy to go there check again. :-/

Yeah, I saw the "Off Road" on my dash too. I have a 2010 JKU Rubi and wondered what that was for. I thought it would light up in 4 low or something but no dice.

Mine is a Sahara. :-)
Maybe they all share the same panel and difference is which lights or signs they use.

No, I just had it in low with lockers off and sway bar connected. I'll lock her up and disconnect the sway bar and post if the light comes on. it would make sense if it does. If it actually illuminates I'll need to get glasses because I've had the lockers engagued and sway bar disconnected many times. Maybe I just didn't notice.

I bet if you hit the auto sway disconnect, the light comes on...

chrysler uses / used that same cluster display in many different vehicles in the last few years.. they also may have had those segments designed into the display panel for future use or a plan that may have even been scrapped at some point...

it is a lot cheaper to create 1 display panel and order millions of them rather than make a change if at some point they thought an off-road light was in the cards..

that particular VFD panel has been around for at least 5 years or more...

the panel on the left side of the dash is also as well a panel thats been around awhile..

on the 2011 if the EVIC option is ordered a dot-matrix VFD panel is used.. that panel also has been around in other chrysler vehicles for a few years...

I just gave it a whirl and the "Off Road" didn't illuminate with lockers on sway disconnected... oh well!

Oh well, guess it is for another" Jeep" product, maybe it it is for when a Liberty or Compass owner veers off of the pavement?
