This is why I will never order from any dealership, I know what I want so I do a search online find the dealerships that have what I want and go. First dealer I go to the salesman tells me he has no more but he can get me one from another dealer. So I ask him from where and he asks me why I want to know, so I told him thats where I am going to go and get it. He wouldn't tell me so I left I got the same list he's got. So now I call the second one on my list before I go, I'm told they have one 35 minutes later I show up and I'm told they just sold it but let me show you what we have, so as we walked out the door he went his way and I went my way, I left. So now I said to myself "self" just go to the next dealer on your list and don't tell the salesman what you want "no" just tell the salesman to show you all models that are not sold and what each one has and what is the difference between each one. And wouldn't you know it the first one he shows me is the one I'm looking for. So I tell the salesman to scratch everything I just said this is the one I want get the keys and lets go drive it. I told the salesman that its getting late banks are starting to close I got Heinekens in my frig screaming my name, gave him a down payment and drove it home the next day. So " Don't " let the salesman know what it is you are looking for just have them show you what they have available on there lot and you will find what you're looking for.

I confirmed the dealer has one to make sure he wasn't bait and switch, but i wasn't driving 8 hours to pick up a jeep. Seemed alot easier to have them ship it here, and it looks like it'll all work out just a bit longer than expected. We will see when i call for that VIN in an hour i guess.

Anyway my story starts in mid march when i was looking into buying a 2013 JK. I found the options i wanted, and i found what appears to be/was an AWESOME dealer. No bullshit, great price, no games, the guy i dealt with went out of his way to help me etc. Was told my delivery date was Monday, April 8th (99% sure may of been the next Monday. will look over emails in a bit) I emailed them to confirm (was a couple hour drive to this dealer) on Thursday the truck had arrived and everything was set up (was a dealer transfer and supposed to arrive the day before, Wednesday) and was told the dealer they were getting it from screwed them over and sold it. Found this odd they didn't tell me until 3 days before i was supposed to pick it up, but whatever. Shit happen, people get busy etc.

The sales guy i was dealing with then (from my end it looked like anyway) worked his ass off and found another with my options the next day, after being told the first one was "the only one in Western Canada" so that was a bit odd, and then was told this dealer transfer will take alot longer, this time May 1st. Again i said whatever not a problem. Fast forward to a ~week ago (7-8 days ago) i talked to them to see if May 1st was still a go and i was told that "it should be in sooner but it will be in by May 1st as it is an estimate) little odd. Now it's the 30th, i hear nothing from them until i send them an email today to see what time i should come in tomorrow to take delivery (even though it was supposed to be "before May 1st") and i'm told they now don't have any idea when it's going to be in as it is "still in transit" I did NOT hear from them at all, i had to initiate both the convo a week ago, and the one today. I just find the whole process a bit... Odd... And wanted your guys opinions on it. I really don't want to start making accusation and bitching at them because they've treated me so well up to the last couple weeks... But now i get the feeling something is up. They also keep saying things like "I can't wait to see you in your jeep" and "i've placed a call to see where it is..."

What do you guys think? I just get this feeling something is wrong/something is up... Or that i'm getting the run around.
Thanks.

EDIT: Thought i should mention i have left a deposit on it and got a credit approval.
You're getting the run around. I found my 2012 JK through a dealer while I was traveling. That dealer located it on the train. The vehicle was scanned at various stops along the way. About every 2-3 days, I would inquire about where the jeep was and I was informed accordingly. All the way to the anticipated delivery date which was spot on. They did tell me allow + - 3 days. Which was a 1 week spread. Nonetheless, the dealer called me once they knew, about 4 days out the jeep would certainly be there. Too much tech these days to not know where a load is. They know. They bullshitted you from the start. They always sell what they don't have......

I knew they did, afaik they can track it almost instantly, but regardless of all that crap i have a VIN and all that jazz now. Forgot to update this yesterday. Anyway, how can one use the VIN to get all the info on it? It's 1C4AJWAGXDL642634 ,As in an order tracking or a vin decoder that's reliable?

I agree you're getting shafted. I did a dealer swap for my '12 JKU. I live in Halifax, and the dealer here said they couldn't get a Jeep with the options I wanted in the colors I wanted. Long story short, I contacted a dealer in New Brunswick (my home town), and they found what I wanted in Newfoundland, had the deal done and JK on their lot in 6 days. They paid the shipping from Newfoundland, and threw in $1000 cash back when I picked it up because it was a day later than they told me initially and they didn't have it detailed.

You have got to be fucking kidding me. His VIN? links to Victoria Chrysler with a sahara that's most definetly NOT the Jeep i ordered. I'm not content with getting my deposit back now. This is so far from over. He fucked up. Badly.

Call the island dealer & comfirm the VIN & ask them if they have a Jeep with the options you are looking for. You can also get the build sheet from Chrysler with the VIN to confirm what it is.

Default Order your own

I suggest, like another's post, forget the jeep you think the dealer has coming from another dealer. I know it's a long drive, but go to the dealership, really, any dealership, meet with a sales rep, bring the exact specs you want and the online build quote from the jeep website, and special order one from the factory. It will be delivered specifically for you. The dealership may not want you to special order, as they want to move the vehicles already on their lot. But just be persistent and make them order one with you. It will take 4-6 weeks, but it will be exactly what you want.

I used to work for a Toyota dealer (briefly) and some of the practices that we were told to employ were truly unscrupulous. The dealers, especially sales managers, really don't care about what the customers want. They are under pressure to move vehicles off their lot and many will do so by providing mis-information and misleading customers. Special order what you want. It'll be worth the wait to have the specs you want, since you'll be dropping 25k or so for the vehicle.

If you don't want to lose your deposit, then go back to your original dealer. But remember to make sure they include the money you put down for deposit in the final bill of sale. Another common practice is to "forget" to take the customers deposit amount out of the final bill of sale.

Sounds like you've really been given the run around. Eventually, once you have your vehicle with the specs you want, it will all be worth it. Good Luck!
