Personally I'd go straight for a base model sport, 3.21 gears, no a/c and hard top that's it. Then I'd build it up how I want it. If you plan on getting bigger than 35" tires, you may as well not worry about the gearing because you'll want to regear down the road when you decide on 37s A/C is questionable though since we barely have a summer here and it's an open top vehicle. Connectivity doesn't matter to me and I prefer a manual so I'm pretty easy to please

I'd say the auto will be the biggest factor here though as that's a huge mechanical difference and a/c is as well. The 3.21 gearing is great up to 33" and with the new auto tranny the jeep drives much better.. We've got a 6spd and run 35s on 3.21s without much hassle or problems and it's the old 3.8L engine We'll be re-gearing to 4.88 and locking it up for 37s though hopefully this summer.

You find any with auto & a/c that you liked? If you can't find the right gearing, I'd change that especially if you plan on modifying it down the road.
I know i'm hard to please haha. That's why i was so happy with this dealer, they went WAY out of their way to find exactly what i wanted, but then there was a few... broken delivery dates, whether it was that dealers fault or what is irrelevant, I had to contact them to confirm i should make the 3 hour drive out there, and they tell me it was sold before they transferred it? Why the hell wouldn't they call me as soon as they knew? Then again with today being the supposed delivery date, I had to contact them yesterday, and lo and be hold it's not here. Again. That's why i'm thinking it either doesn't exist and they're trying to buy time to find one, or whatever.... But something is up.

I would find out who they are pulling this magical Jeep from and start contacting the Managers directly to get an answer. Have to be pretty blunt with dealers to get anywhere with them sometimes. Chrysler dealerships have got to the be the worst for customer service compared to GM and Ford.

Starting to think they are thinking that they can play games and generally be condescending and dodge my questions because i'm a kid, therefore they might think i'll just sit back and wait. Got this email today;

"There is no time guarantee on deliveries. Too many variables with trains trucks etc. shouldn't be long now" Okaaaaaay there... Sure sounds like a load of BS to me...

EDIT: I actually negotiated and bought the vehicle solely from a "sales manager"... Not sure of is should go higher...

You mentioned you are young so they may feel they can bluff you. All you have to say is that you can't wait any longer and want to cancel and want your deposit back. It's that simple. Magical things will happen and happen very fast. You also keep saying that they went way out of their way to find your Jeep. Don't let them make you think like that. That is their job and their entire job is a game. If they actually did go out of their way you would either have your Jeep or know where it is and why. No matter what kind of a deal you may think your getting always remember a dealership is like a casino and the house always wins. No matter what, otherwise they wouldn't make the deal. You need to regain the control of this situation. I would reply to that email with one word "unacceptable".

It's a lot like Realty. Realtors make you think they are working so hard for you but in the end they aren't really. We just threaten our realtors with cancelling our contract and look now they'll come down on commission finally and oh look there's more showings, but at the end of the day it's up to you to play hard ball with them.

I'd either say look it's taking too long I've found a better Jeep else where or ask them to tell you what dealer it's coming from so you can figure out a time. There's no reason for them to not tell you who, where or how it's getting to their dealership unless they are getting an auction vehicle or pulling one from the states. Dealers pull them from where ever so be careful if they can't give you a direct answer about who and where and when it'll get there. They may not even have the Jeep lined up in this case and are scrambling to find one that matches.

Ask for a VIN # to you can match the build sheet with Jeep to confirm it's the exact Jeep you want. With this you should be able to track down the Jeep and where it's been etc. If they can't give you a VIN#, then they don't have any Jeep lined up and if they say it's not normal to give a VIN# out, that's BS. The VINs are posted on dealer sites all over so people can check the vehicle before buying and then you know they are really BSing about things.

Thanks for the VIN idea. I get the idea that my emails aren't getting my voice across firmly enough, so i'm going to call him tomorrow morning. Mr. nice guy isn't working, that's fine. I'm done being understanding. The only reason i'm hesitant to stop pulling punches is i took this deal to two local dealers last weekend after i got tired of waiting and hearing nothing, and both said they can't match the price. I am going to tell them i want the VIN tomorrow for sure.

Do they still have the 0% interest going?

Shoot the whole family goes when we by a new car. What we learned is they wear you down, so we bring lunches (let them see) and have a good set down with everybody in the sales. These dealers know who you are or they will and how many different dealers you've been to. That's ok, because they know your seriously going to buy.

My advice, get your money back, for one. Then go to all the dealers and find your Jeep on the lot, two. Name a realistic price that your willing to pay for it, three. Leave them your cell phone number four. And just walk away and they will call you back.

This is how I bought mine.

They know you now

PS: Got the 08 Rubicon for 32K fully loaded, both tops

Ya that's bullshit that they can't guarantee a delivery date. I ordered mine from the factory and received regular updates from my salesman, I knew when they started building it and when they finished. He called me when it was in transit and called me the day before the dealership took possesion of it. That was about the only thing this place did right. If they found you a jeep anywhere, they should be able to at least give you a rough idea of delivery. Like someone said, dealers swap and buy off other dealers all the time. There's no guesswork. Either they found your jeep and it's on the way and will be here on this day, or they are lying and waiting for you to cave and buy something off your lot.
And between you and me, I got A/C in mine...what a waste of money. All though I must admit, on real hot days on long trails, it's fun to ask the topless guys getting covered in dust, "Am I the only one that's cold?" over the cb and then listen to them swear at you.
